Backstory Ever since birth Charon had a huge wonder and concern where dead dragons and dead things in general went in their afterlives and whether or not they were happy living there, he always asked questions like “what does it look like” and “are they above or below?”, but most usually were unanswered by their hushed and quiet hard working clanmates leaving him to figure out himself. As a result he would always attend dragon funerals even from ones not of his clan and try to get their advice but unfortunately with the mostly grieving dragons he knew quite well he wouldn’t get too many answers…or any at all, and decided to try looking for new hobbies for his spare time. Normally you would think that a dragon with a love for the look of dead victims would be a bloodlust killer right? Well surprisingly Charon never liked getting a lot of blood on him(or any at all) or gets excited over the heat of a battle which most likely surprised some of his old clanmates, sometimes he’d even take a picture of the start of a battle, leave and come back just to see the battle’s aftermath or watch from afar; it’s one of his favorite pastimes. While finding a new hobby he did come across a traveling group of merchants who happened to sell flowers, he used some of the treasure he saved up and bought a flower pot; it’s currently the closest flower he has on his outfit and the start of his new found career. It wasn’t too long before other dragons knew of this job and hobby and not only was seen as different for doing so but was soon forced into fighting by his clan, he didn’t fight exactly on his own and would always fight in groups normally to just wander off later barely doing much of the work. When he left these battles he’d normally go to an old rose garden that was dying, he’d decorate his clothing in the wilting roses to escape the bloodfield he usually dealt with. A little bit later in life about near adulthood he had to learn to protect himself, especially on plague-land and came across an old shack with an elder aged dragon inside, curious he went inside and asked the dragon for other ways of protection rather than fighting with tooth and claw And the dragon suggested using magic and Charon asked for training on what magic to use and the dragon agreed. Charon learned several basic magic skills from the mage and was mostly surprised how hunting or fighting monsters left less blood this way but what surprised him the most was how he got sunset colored streaks that would fade around his tail and had a constant black aura he also noticed more dragons pop up in the wastelands than usual and most had deathly blue glowing eyes he ignored the spirits at first; thinking that anydragon could have saw them but it wasn’t before it started to seem as if they were talking to him and he soon studied into in and found out he could talk to the spirits. With his newly found knowledge and desire he soon decided to seek safer and distant land, he also dressed up in more darker clothing to give dragons a good scare and not target him while walking through the territory, on the way he came across a small hatchling that must have died years ago; the hatchling asked charon to help them safely cross from the shadow flight to the light flight; their home, charon was surprised by the hatchlings eagerness to trust a stranger but he agreed to let the hatchling journey with him; he built a small wood boat and found some lanterns for a light and a stick to paddle with, he could have easily flew over there but thought boating would be faster; unfortunately if they looked back on the voyage now he would have known flying would have been way faster than expected. He let the hatchling to the lightly colored landscape in only a few days to a week, when the hatchling arrived they asked for charon’s name; charon never had been give a name during his childhood or at all, but he looked at the way he was dressed and answered the hatchlings question…..”a charon, my name is charon”. After the hatchlings disappearance charon decided to stay in the light flight’s territory, with hopes that he wouldn’t have to fight much with it’s natural calmness, but he was wrong with the despair luminaxes on the flight which made the safety rate reputation practically lower than dirt, not to mention dragon clans who are definitely not as calm battle avoiding dragons as he was taught light dragons were, it too him quite some time before coming across a big patch of land with a variety of flowers like daisies,petunias and even his favorite: roses, he followed it’s path and came to a city called ‘Cotl’, he knew now where his destiny took him and was accepted into the clan a few weeks later, after the occurrence with the hatchling he decided to tell the council of the main job he had and was allowed to guide dead spirits all over sornieth and of course own and build a rose/flower garden sanctuary for the town. |
