PERSONALITY + BACKGROUND
Copernicus has lived on the steppes long before the settlement of Kikokumo was built. He hails from an ancient lineage of dragons who lived among the long, flat stretches of sand and grass. The land they lived upon was an entity, one who cast no biased judgement and treated all of it's inhabitants with equal scorn, and equal blessing. Copernicus' ancestors however, did not respect this land, nor did they worship it rightfully, taking advantage of it's bounty and destroying it's beauty from constant building and colonizing. As punishment, the land had taken away their eyes, and their children as well as their children's children and beyond, would be born without the privilege to gaze upon the land any longer. Unlike many others before him, Copernicus has used this curse to his advantage, using his lack of sight to better focus beyond the physical plane and look upon the alternate realms to allow himself a glimpse into other realities. Without the ability to see the immediate world beyond him, he is unencumbered and free to explore places invisible to many mortal eyes. As he trains his focus and ability to reach across the external planes, he wishes that one day he may be able to reach out to the spirit of the steppes hoping to issue an apology for his ancestors' shortsightedness and to also bargain to lift his lineages' curse.

Copernicus possesses an ability similar to Spectral Sight- an ability exclusive to natives of the steppes in Earth. It is said to be given by the spirit of the steppes itself, rewarded for deep respect and worship to the land, as well as bestowing daily offerings. By inciting the now defected convocation member Delemont, she assisted him in developing dangerous magicks that paralleled Spectral Sight, and his lack of sight gave him an edge with it's usage compared to those who were blessed with the ability naturally. While any devoted follower for the spirit of the steppes would frown upon this practice, he believes it to be imperative for his ultimate goal- to lift the curse for his future descendants. |

"H-h-h-h-have the strength to accept the things you cannot change, th-th-th-the courage to change the things you can, an-an-and the wisdom to know the difference." Copernicus is an oracle of especially high esteem - a surprise given his methods... and given that he's blind. He reads the stars as accurately as those who come from the spire holds of the Arcane, and is more than happy to demonstrate it in their very presence. However, his readings are often as troubling as they are useful or even amusing; his lack of distracting, physical sight opens him to as many possibilities as he can hope to attain when spiritually speaking, but it's easy to forget that this includes the bad. For as many good fortunes as he gives, he sees worst outcomes and tragedy, and he puzzles himself to no end to attempt to avert these fates while maintaining outward composure.
