the mound is adverse and bitter towards outsiders; those born outside of it will never remain for long. it is a maze, however, of disproportionate size; The Lady's whim influences this, Her will and all-encompassing care traping young dragons in this dragon-made oasis.

one found amorite on the outskirts of the flowering dessert, and one offered fresh honeycomb to the recently shed hatchling; she hungrily devoured it in a truly adorable fashion, before seeming embarrassed, and daintily turning her head away.

one found pepper, who was without name and stumbling clumsily through the pond. one taught the hatchling how to catch the glass minow without filling one's maw with gravel, and was throughly amused when pepper fished out clay and oysters instead, cackling amicably.
one thought the hatchling's wings were absolutely an gorgeous kelp colour, but reminded one of her crops back home. one knows of peppers to be usually described as spicy, though one disagreed. peppers were bitter at first, yet were crisp and sweet, sort of wispy, when grown on the outskirts of the mound, were the sun does shine down. - peppers was similar, feisty and grumpy whilst hungry, but had a "cool" sweetness to him, well behaved and polite in the way one is not used to.

one found mangrove chewing it's namesake, hungrily nibbling one bark and roots; freedom was found by anghel to have been stealing crops and killing allegra's beloved canaries, kept at the aviary. neither were eating what their body was fit for, and that certainly had done a number in their bodies.
allegra, surprisingly, didn't go on a tangent about the wrongs of theft - or the metabolic processes of your body (and how they mess up when you eat the things you aren't supposed to) - nothing. one was frankly amused by the lack of scolding. she just sat both down and making sure their stomachs were filled with warm food before they left, before sighing melancholically at the sight of scattered feathers and bloodied pulp.

the imperial was beautiful; exuding an air of mystery and elegance as it moved and swayed in the noon gale. one couldn't help but watch in reverie; the engraved, jade runes of the dragon glistening amongst mist and smoke, the signifiers of a wellbred dragon of a lineage of many.
one does not yearn for bloodline or brethren; one cannot. one's faith to The Princess cut away the many branches of a sword, giving it no end nor start; no divergences, and no alternatives.
one is happy, though, amongst the freezing breeze and sylvan snow, with enough lifetimes to see cascades erode geodes.

fluffy, soft; sweet and meek. purple. allium blooms are something like that, and so is this hatchling. it was not very bright and had little self control, trying to eat the very clover carpenting off the inn's floor when hungry, despite dinner being in five minutes flat.
the day of the uprooting itself was messy enough; the little one had run away some time in the late night, just to be found by one making bundles upon bundles of light's breaths. gifts, he said - excitedly.
one was moved. however, one is allergic.

the fledgling had beautiful wings. however, he was vain, flaunting his patagium's eye-catching colouring and mad, abstract patterns at any moment conceivable - knocking off ledges and shelving - walking with stride, campy, sauntering steps accentuated by the swaying of their wings per pace. the innkeeper merely chuckled, infinitely patient - letting the young dragon put on all sort of apparel and clothing strange and foreign to them.
renard was graceful - and their flippant attitude aside, they showed to have a true mastery over fashion and an eye for colours. catseye, who was initially miffed at the sight of dust barrelled in her store - doesn't offer forgiveness, but a condition to the young fae; they spent the rest of the day putting on a show, as catseye put renard through rotating sets of clothing and jewelry, each more ridiculous than the last.
they had left, smiling and not an ounce of swagger lost on them as they stepped past the exit - not looking back even once. their autograph - loopy and pretentious, rested pinned to catsye's corkboard. whenever I mention it nowadays, she just shakes her head and smiles wistfully, clucking her toungue.

one found these particularly sparkly baby hatchlings on the outskirts of the mire, while one tried to find her favorite snacks, fresh lotus blooms. the baby hatchlings were a set of twins with fiery eyes and another with icy touch, playing with the water - a pair heating stray drops into steam, and the shivering dustball turned it into snow, all snuggling into each other to keep themselves warm.
one picked them up by the scruff, and left them on one's flax basket; one could wash the mud later; the hatchling's comfort was far more important. they purred, happily snuggling atop each other.
one named them after allegra's fancy words, which she spouts and mutters under her breath - along with images and scrolls one does not understand. stars, she calls them; while one wonders, is it possible for anything to be brighter than the light - the shine, shimmering and glimmering so prettily off the pelt and eyes of these pampered bundles of joy?

The Lady means no harm, of course - Her wings meant to protect those who stumble under them. in Her form, She and the mound might as well be one; a self so abstract, contradictory and capricious - it is unclear if it's meant to be ever understood. it is Her vassals job to rescue the younglings and guide them to safety; they can choose to stay, if they want to - yet most decide to return home. this ritual and practice was once known as exile, though that would imply the lack of the hatchling's choice; most have deemed to calling it the uprooting - the removal of one's ties to the mound, before they are lead outside and left to pursue a better life, or simply to find home. all outsiders can choose to go through with this process, as long as they understand they can never return; for those who just got lost on the mist and stumbled in Her Highness' domain, this is no problem at all; however, for those who grew up in the mound itself, whether in seek of asylum, attached to Her faith or simply attached to Her vassals: this a weighted choice. |
