"loyalty's fluctuations is what gives it such value"
laeg has always respected aldrich's words, which never stopped him from trying to disagree whenever possible. he was aware of his inferiority, he was only one of many soldiers- regardless of any fancy titles that may try to argue otherwise. the shaman was aware of this, though he did not know its ties behind the soldier's refusal to kill. it's said that the last time he took a life it was of someone once dear to him, but even cuhullin himself has learned not to try his hand at comforting. what's done is done, laeg believes, for as long as the goals of his allies align with his idea of righteousness, then he will be there as their unwavering guard. | ___________ |

ripples swirled amidst the rain puddles, a dance of blood and water beneath cuhullin's feet. its crimson hues whispered tales of battles fought, victories won, and lives lost. yet, this blood was not his own. it mingled with the raindrops, each pitter a requiem as if intentionally drowning out the nearby cries. such was a moment of fleeting serenity, queen ayesha of the opposing lair has fallen... and so would they if the wrong choices were made. | _______ |

as the wails behind him momentarily ceased, a murmured realization pierced the air. “garanhir was captured already. there's no way to finish our deal now.' the words hung heavy, a grim reminder of the consequences of their actions. yet, garanhir's defiance had only fueled further discord, leading to more needless death and suffering. laeg’s calm speech seemed to only upset the distraught cuhullin further as they watched the corpses of both allied and enemied comrades, of civilians who weren’t lucky enough to evacuate in time. "we must cut our losses and accept this change for peace,” he declared, his gaze solemn as they surveyed the carnage around them. "strength lies not in kindness, but in resolve.'” the soldier lent out a hand to his captain who still kneeled on the ground, for a moment they acted not as comrades but as friends. "i couldn't bring myself to do it," cuhullin confessed, "if someone hears i couldn't defeat my own subordinates who tried to turn back, that'll definitely leave a dent in my reputation.” his attempt at levity falling flat in the face of their grim reality. laeg's expression softened, understanding his friend's struggle. Without a word, he stepped forward, pulling cuhullin into a rare embrace amidst the subsiding chaos. "there they were, woes showered away by the rain, they found solace in each other's arms." "my mouth is sealed." | ____ |
