Buttercup is a kind soul, she tends to get easily nervous and overwhelmed, however her best friend Newry helps her stay calm and collected. The both of them work as adventurers together, they work so well together that they are able to handle being in some place that most dragons would never dream of ever going.

Buttercup enjoys peace and quiet whenever she finishes work, laying up with a good book and some tea is her way of relaxing. She loves flowers but can't really get the hang of caring for them, she does take very good care of her Princess Petak Gecko, Tulip. She found Tulip injured one day when she was exploring with Newry and feeling bad for her took her home and raised her to health. Tulip became attached to Buttercup and refuses to leave her side, she enjoys her company.

Buttercup never really had any ambition to do anything with her life, she enjoyed painting flowers and landscapes, it was a small hobby of hers, so when she came to Ballycove and it didn't have the same atmosphere that the everbloom gardens that she grew up had, instead it was wet and deary. Slowly her love of art and passion for it faded, and she felt lost.
With no ambition for anything and now her hobby was no longer fulfilling, she desperately tried to find something to do with her life. She began to help out in the greenhouse and gardens of Ballycove, she found out it was nothing like painting however, she was great at killing plants. Her next plan was to help out at the local tailor, thinking it would be easy enough however, she couldn't figure out how to hold a needle properly and kept poking herself with it. One day she accidentally dyed a bunch of fabric the wrong colour and Betta became so mad that he told her to get out. He later apologised for getting so angry with her, but it didn't help Buttercup from feeling useless. She felt like leaving Ballycove and returning to her old home in everbloom gardens, but she thought she would give it one more try.
She saw a post looking for new adventurer recruits, dragons who would go out and explore and bring back resources. She decided to give it a try, what was the worst that could happen? When she showed up to the sign up she met a new face, a wildclaw named Newry who was also trying to get the job. He seemed excited, he had wanted to do something like this ever since he was a hatchling, the two began to talk about the times they were young until Christmas came out. She was an experienced adventurer and was the one in charge of handling new recruits. Christmas began her talk, during which she mentioned how they would likely be working in pairs and to choose a partner. As soon as she said that, Newry turned to look at her and smiled, "Want to be my partner?" Buttercup nervously nodded in reply. The two worked together to complete the test, which involved an obstacle course, beating up dummies and doing a quiz on coliseum enemies. Christmas was impressed with their ability to work together, she asked them to come back tomorrow to complete the final part of their test.
Buttercup was very nervous, she felt like they were holding Newry back from his dreams and he would be better off without her holding him back. The final test wasn't what we was expecting, Christmas had them going out to a place called the training fields, she mentioned that dragons new to the idea of adventuring tend to go there to get the hang of it. Although it was difficult at first and Buttercup was unsure of herself, however, Newry helped her through that worry and together they did their best. At the end of the day they flew back to Ballycove, Christmas spoke about how good everyone did and how the ones who got through would get a letter tomorrow.
Buttercup could barely sleep, she was just so nervous. She thought that she didn't really care too much if she got in or not but she loved the idea of working together with Newry so much. When the morning came she made her breakfast and began to read a book, procrastinating on checking her postbox. She couldn't put it off all day though, so eventually, she peeped inside and it was empty. A wave of disappointment came over her, she wanted to see Newry. did he get in? He must have... he's so talented . She went over to his home as soon as she could, when she saw Newry outside he had a huge smile on his face. In his hand he was clutching his acceptance letter, he hugged Buttercup "I can't wait to go on our first adventure!" she began to tear up, she didn't want to tell him she didn't get in, she didn't want to ruin his moment. Newry realised though, he saw her sadness. He looked into her eyes and asked what was wrong, Buttercup explained herself, "well, let's go to Christmas and demand to let you in! Or else I won't work!" Buttercup was shocked, she didn't think he would give his dreams for her.
The two made their way over to the guild office it was busy with dragons preparing to go out, Christmas was sitting in front doing paperwork, as the two walked in she lifted her head and greeted them with a smile. Newry, angry, told her what he wanted to do, Christmas seemed confused. "Both you and Buttercup were accepted!" she paused, and then took a big sigh. "Aurelia, did you give Theorah the mailbag today?" a light purple guardian head popped out, "Yeah, he complained and moaned about it but he did do it," she replied. "Did you check that he give it all out?" Christmas leaned towards Aurelia. "Urhh, let me check now-" Aurelia dashed off and in a few seconds emerged with a brown bag in her claws. Christmas took it from her and looked inside, she let out another sigh before pulling out a crumbled letter. "Our typical mailer is sick with the cough, Theorah was meant to cover for them but that lazy sod forgot to deliver your letter." Christmas handed the letter to Buttercup. Buttercup held onto the letter in her claws, just looking at it. She took in a deep breath of relief and smiled at Christmas and Newry. "When do we start?" she breathed.
