The Prince Once upon a time, Akira was a prince who ruled over a grand kingdom. It was said that he was descended from the deities themselves. He studied the stars and was a kind ruler with a generous disposition. But one day, a mysterious dragon came to the kingdom. This dragon was named Grisha. He was wise and powerful. He worked his way up the ranks within the royal family. And eventually he became Akira's well-advised teacher, showing him the ways of magic. Yet unbeknownst to others, this dragon started teaching Akira in the forbidden arts of magic. But Akira was curious and his curiosity came at a price. He came into contact with the Shade and became tainted. And as Grisha looked on with pleasure, Akira transformed into a hideous form... something otherworldly that lay between dragon and Shade. And with one blow, he killed Grisha. With his new abilities, Akira lay waste to his kingdom, massacring all the subjects that once revered him. Every man, woman, and child that once saw him as their kind prince... he snuffed their lives out in a single night. Only after it was all over and his home lay in ruins... did the prince find himself released from the Shade. But it was too late and the damage had been done. By this point, tales of the prince turned monster are simply legend. A tale to tell your hatchling to keep them from straying too far into forbidden magic. The kingdom has once since been erased from history and the prince has been forgotten. But this happened-- once a long time ago. And Akira still wanders in the wilderness, trying to earn forgiveness. The ghosts of an entire kingdom haunt him and he can never stay in one place for too long. He can still feel the Shade within him, mocking him and whispering to him. And he knows that some day it'll come back to claim him again. |
