Background

Daughter of a world-renowned healer and a powerful arcane mage, magic runs thick in Arevik's blood. The union of her parents wasn't a particularly intimate one; their children had been conceived through magic. Arevik's mother had rejected the dragon gods for their treatment of the beastclans, and as a result had no magic. However, she was able to bend ley lines and use natural magic to great effect, controlling the wild animals around her. In contrast, Arevik's father had magic almost in excess. It is thought that he was blessed by the Windsinger himself. His magic power manifested in the elegant curled markings on his body and the wisps of wind that followed him everywhere.

Arevik takes after her father far more than her mother. She inherited his magical potential and he taught her all the methods of healing that he knew. It was from him that Arevik learned to respect all living things, and from both parents she learned about the beastclans and all of their culture and history. Arevik's father had always taught her to make peace, and though she is quite a bit quicker to jump to violence than he is, she has always tried to live by his words.

When she was young, and barely fully grown, Arevik made a harrowing journey across the Sea of a Thousand Currents. It would have been fatal, if not for several strokes of luck, magic, and many kind strangers. Even so, Arevik nearly starved to death. She learned things that few fae knew from the denizens of the Sea, though, and it puts her in a unique position among her kind.

Across the Sea was the Tangled Wood, a strange, eerie place, filled with layers upon folded layers of darkness, and secrets and whispers beyond knowing. Arevik settled with the Lumerae Vana clan there. Soon afterwards, prompted by grief, fury, and pride, the matriarch, Envy, led her clan into a series of fierce territory wars. When it was all over, the clan had become a kingdom, and Arevik was an experienced battle mage and combat medic.
