Joseph Joestar
from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure

Joseph Joestar (ジョセフ・ジョースター, Josefu Jōsutā) is the protagonist of the second part of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Battle Tendency, and the grandson of the protagonist from the first part, Johnathan. After Johnathan trained in ripple/hamon, it was passed down to his descendants, making Joseph a natural born user of the breathing technique that creates an energy in the body identical to the sun.

Battle Tendency focuses on Joseph training his use of hamon with master Lisa Lisa alongside ally Caesar Zeppeli, grandson of the hamon user who trained Jonathan, in order to defeat the vampirical, superhuman Pillar Men. After awakening them from their stone-like forms within underground pillars, Joseph talks his way into earning the time to train but two of the pillar men put poison rings in his body which will melt after a month if he doesn't defeat them and take their antidotes. The pillar men seek the red stone of Aja to ascend to even greater powers by becoming immune to the sun and conquering humanity, but the stone is discovered to be under the protection of Lisa Lisa, and the pressure is on as Joseph's time to train ends early and the pillar men attack.

Joseph is brash, cocky, and clownish, so his opponents underestimate him when he's really a highly observant tactician. He notices the mistakes of his enemies and takes advantage, playing tricks and setting traps that lead to his victory. He seems to be steps ahead of everyone else, even going so far as to predict what his opponents will say next. This is actually the subconscious use of his sleeping stand, Hermit Purple, which fully activates in Stardust Crusaders when Joseph is nearly 70. Hermit Purple is a psychic stand that manifests as thorny purple vines, and though its mostly used for spirit photography, it can be used for combat in a pinch and hamon can be channeled through it to defend against vampires. When his back's against the wall and he needs to buy time to think, Joseph uses the iconic Joestar Secret Technique of running away.
