BIOGRAPHY

Wreathed in violet flame, Orphaeus' very presence is enough to assault one's nostrils with the stench of smoke and impending death. The Banescale's regal purple scales have been coated in charcoal over years of battle, and their huge, curled horns cut a domineering figure on the battlefield. The head of Ardent Blaze never loses their composure even in the goriest combat, and their cold, curt words and sheer might make them a force to be feared. They are cruel and harsh, and believe that their mercenary clan comes first; individual lives mean little to Orphaeus.

Orphaeus' word is law in their clan, and the Banescale exudes sheer power in their every movement. They are heavily muscled, and their violet inferno only grows in intensity when they are agitated. Despite this, they also act as primary ambassador for their clan; Orphaeus is highly intelligent, and they are more than able to cajole rivals out of their resources rather than taking them by force. Orphaeus is cold and calculating, and is willing to sacrifice lives in exchange for their perceived wellbeing of Ardent Blaze; the clan is everything to them. An insult to any clan member is an insult to Orphaeus themselves - one they often prefer to deal with personally.

BIOGRAPHY

Orphaeus doesn't make many close relationships in their clan. They are far too daunting for many to even consider approaching, and they perceive themselves to be above the people around them. To Orphaeus, clan members are judged by their value; Darius, though he irritates them somewhat, still has his use as Orphaeus' right hand due to his tactical genius. Prinam is useful as an auxiliary commander due to his unquestioning loyalty and ability to inspire other troops. Orphaeus does not view other dragons as people so much as tools - Orphaeus wholeheartedly believes that anyone who is not useful is replaceable.

The only exception to this thus far has been Lylum; Orphaeus never paid much attention to the young, brash Banescale until she was older. However, when she began to show her natural aptitude for battle, Orphaeus was intrigued. They often trained the young Banescale in combat techniques personally, and Orphaeus believed their time investment would be justified. However, Lylum abruptly left the clan to join Sundry's Refuge after Ardent Blaze was forced to retreat in a battle against the Vanguard; not used to being surprised, Orphaeus has since been more irritable. They plan to regain Lylum as a member of Ardent Blaze, viewing Lylum's dissent as an unacceptable example of the clan's weakness. They have since moved the clan's operations primarily to the Sunbeam Ruins. Orphaeus is more than ready to clash with the local factions in the name of vengeance.
