MOLLYCODDLE

___
______Mollycoddle's father has always been a subject of interesting conversation. A beast of sorts, suffering terribly from a curse of unknown origins, Molly has always been terrified of how her curse would take hold. It would, and she knew this because of her siblings, all of which had also fallen victim, eventually, to the curse. She regrets how she spent the beginning of her life, lying in fear and not doing very much about it. She wasted it. She could have lived. She could have played and made friends and been the hatchling she should have been. But she had been too afraid. She had watched her older siblings succumb, disfigured and zombified. But it hadn't hit her for a very long time. A part of Molly wishes it would have hit her sooner, for the wait itself was agonizing. A torture perhaps worse than her eventual fate. For, though it did hit, it was not quite as bad as she has worried it would be. Maybe it was truly due to her worrying, her vivid imagination only building the worst case scenario, that when what happened wasn't, in fact, the worst case scenario, she wasn't sure what to make of it.

______Her mane was made of melon fruit, as it always had been, in the proper texture a melon should be: crisp, juicy, and plump. But then, it began to change, as it inevitably would. It began to go "bad", for a lack of better words. Pretty soon, it was a slimy, discolored, slush that just barely kept its shape. With it came an unpleasant, sickly sweet miasma that Molly would desperately cover up with perfumes and the like. But even with this terrible state that her mane was in, she could barely say that she was suffering more than any of her brothers or sisters. In fact, this was tame compared to their qualms. As such, Molly never let any of this get her down. In the back of her mind, she always did worry that her disease would progress, that her body would continue to deteriorate, but it never did. At least, not yet. And she had learned from her past regrets, she knew not to let herself succumb to the anxieties and the "what ifs" in exchange for her precious time.

______Mollycoddle actually coped with her disease by moving to the Southern Icefields, where the cold would freeze her mane, even ever so slightly, and help keep its shape. In the process, she found herself a lovely little clan, full of dragons that could care less about her ailments, even offering to help her deal with them within her day to day life. Molly was happy, and surely the lack of stress was doing her a world of good.

______Most interestingly, Molly ended up picking up a trade, specifically that of hairdressing. Perhaps it was how hard she had to work to care for her own mane that sparked this interest, but that is certainly how she got to be so good at it. Her care techniques are well coveted throughout the clan, no matter how different her own mane is compared to the rest of the clan's.
