CHAPTER FOUR: THE DYING STAR
Birth of the Dragons of Aether - Entry 3
We witnessed a great battle between two opposing minds among the Dragons of Aether. Their pelts were oddly similar, Nadya and her opponent both sporting similar blue and brown patterns. They spat what we assumed were foul words, hate emanating from both of their faces, as Nadya so valiantly protected us from the aggressor's ire.
More easily than we had expected, she perservered, though she hesitated to land the killing blow. Instead, they exchanged words, with the male falling into submission. In her words, he pleaded for mercy, demonstrating that he too had the ability to make choices. Unfortunately, his choice was to succeed his creator, Aavaderyat.
Nadya wished to change his mind, and help him make a new choice. It was then she brought him unto the Old One, of whom the male instantly cowered to. It seemed the Old One was a dominant member of their kind, as neither Nadya or the male could think to challenge him. We had earned this dragon's partnership, unfortunately through intimidation and violence.
According to Nadya, he still feels a twinge of loyalty to Aavaderyat, and feels conflicted about his circumstances. Yet he continues to stay, choosing us over the dangerous unknown that is now infested with those who cannot make a choice. He has made notes that the mindless of his kind often turn on each other, despite being borne from the same entity. He does not wish to meet the same fate as those of his kin who have killed each other.
