The Mica Ministry was not really a place for children. Not any one reason really, just that magic intuition rarely sparked before one hit their second year. Yet Ladora appeared on the doorstep of the academy one misty morning and no one could tell where she came from. Still, the founders took her in and, with help from many of the other resident mages, she grew and thrived in the pink crystal halls. In perticular, Aumeryx became a mother figure to the young coatl who loved the older coatl's hummed tunes and poorly veiled cursing at failed alchemical brews. It was Aumeryx who discovered that the albino coatl was also mostly blind and navigated using the vague nebulous shapes she was able to see. Ladora simply hadn't ever brought it up herself, having assumed everyone was like her. Knowing Ladora's love of ballads that told stories, Aumeryx decided to try a new spell. Between her and Australis, they enchanted a piece of Arcacious' magical crystals so that it would change the texture of whatever it was used on with the intention of teaching Ladora how to read using touch. Unsurprisingly, Ladora was thrilled and was quick to tear through the Ministry's rather modest library, often humming the words to herself as she did so. Once the library was exhausted, she went to bothering the resident mages for their personal collections, many of whom ended up sending their assistants out to collect books for Ladora to read and archive into the school's library. Over time, this process has resulted in the library expanding massively and Australis passing ownership of it over to Ladora to care for and archive the ever growing collection. |
