The intertwined beasts of the south, Sleipnir and Vargr, have always been at odds. Their differences have always been too great, despite their shared curse binding them together; every meeting has been a careful dance of resentment and curiosity. Their children together were a great experiment between the two, and their children have always suffered from it.

Under a full September moon, a single egg begins to crack. The beasts that sired the egg are lone gone, having abandoned their nest in favor of following migrating elk. A snout pokes out of the shell, and then a second snout; the egg continues to crack, until the twins come slithering out, tired and newly hatched. They look with pale eyes around the dark, quiet forest, but there is no beast in sight, so they look upon the stars.

The twins imprint upon the cosmos, following the movement of the night sky as they climb to unsteady feet and leave their nest behind.

Couldn't resist the one named after my zodiac so close to my bro bro's birthday. XD
  • Never did truly learn much of his bestial curse
  • Followed the stars, seeing them as if they were flecks of color dancing in the dark waters of the sky above like the scales of a fish
  • Wants to catch the stars himself somehow
  • Wandered for a long time in his attempts to find a way to catch them
  • Those caught in his dreams wither away chasing their own dreams, just as he is
  • Eventually washes ashore in the Garden of the Eleven
  • Found by a very confused Razael alongside some Barghests
  • Include their sibling, resting in port with their partner Zircon
  • Zircon's original partner, Azami, worked with the small Barghest to help him recover from his fervent travels to try and harness the stars in his paws
  • Eventually agreed to share a dream with the Barghest to better understand what he wanted
  • Realized he was also terrified of what he could be, because of the other Barghests and what he saw in them
  • Convinced him to let her wake with him still in her dream, sharing her idea with him
  • Took a few dreams to actually agree, but eventually the two became bound
  • Azami then approached Razael with the rumors she'd heard of him alongside some of the other Grand Scholars
  • Recognizing the extent she went to on this rumor, the ancient drake revealed his own abilities tied to the stars themselves
  • The pair remain peaceful with a silvery glimmer of crystal hanging around their necks, glimmering like the stars above
  • Due to the nature of their parents, their children are less bestial than most Barghests, and will often be named after the stars above
  • Both have desires to make their own stars like the ancient dragons before them, and since they can't create their own literal stars, they've settled on new lives with stars in their eyes instead
  • One night they were intruded upon by one of Samhain's noodles
  • Poking fun didn't help things with how complicated Barghest interactions could be
  • Didn't even notice the visiting Imperial trying to catch them until they were bit
  • Try to make it up to the newcomer with their own tales of the stars
  • New drake seems frosty to it all instead, like a cold star somehow
  • Turns out not all stars are something joyous to celebrate
