A quiet and calculated young dragon, Ombretta inherited a natural ability to blend into the dark from her father, Kage. Her dark scales only further amplified this gift, making her an expert at stealth, a gift she sought to hone. Learning of her grandfather's situation, and of an uncle that could perhaps put her in contact with dragons that could teach her more in regards to her gifts or teach her more himself, spurred Ombretta into leaving the Labyrinth, and seeking out Grendel.

To his credit, Grendel seemed rather unphased when a juvenile showed up and demanded he teach her things and called him uncle as she did, but internally he was panicking. Something Ombretta would never notice, as he had learned from a malice Ichor how to poker face, a skill she would learn as well. Anything she could feasibly learn from her uncle, would find her throwing her full effort at, to the point of exhaustion in a few memorable occasions.Yet still, she would get right back up again, carrying on and on until she'd mastered her current lesson and could carry on to the next. Her tenacity terrified and impressed her uncle, and much of the rest of the guild.

For that reason, the rest of the guild gladly took her under their collective wings, opening doors she otherwise wouldn't have access to. The only conditions for these lessons were only that she rest properly, and listen to her current teacher, as much of the learning took place in the field. After all, trial by fire was the only way one could prove their mettle and show mastery of the learned skills. But of all the instructors, it was under her uncle and his adoptive father did she truly hone her shadow gift into a fine tuned weapon. She learned using them no longer to hide, but to distort her form could be easily as valuable as silenced footsteps and staying unseen. She was having a grand time as she worked, and of course, she took time to write home as she did. Ombretta took great delight in regaling her father and siblings of tales of daily life with the guild, leaving out the more dangerous parts of her life, if only to curb their worry for her.
