Biography
Harvester, the Halloween spirit of Jack-O-Laterns!
Their wings are made of candy and a toxic sludge; trying to eat their wings without their permission will likely cause you an untimely demise, but asking nicely for candy (whether by “please” or by “trick or treat!”) will result in a toxin-free, safe-to-eat candy of your preference placed right into your open paws, claws, or hands!
Harvester often enjoys possessing the Jack-O-Laterns people place outside their houses, dancing, and protecting children and hatchlings from roaming bad spirits! Similar to a Jack-O-Latern’s carving depending on the personality of the creator, Harvester’s personality often shifts around to match the energy and personalities of those around them!
On the other hand, Harvester is also a very mischievous spirit with an almost childish personality. They like to play tricks on “grumps” and “meanies,” and if they are hanging out with some of their bad spirited friends, it causes their personality to shift to enjoy scaring people instead of lifting their spirits.
They can travel at very fast speeds, blowing past like a gust of wind. They can also turn completely invisible to the naked eye at will. They usually lose power during any other seasons besides autumn, and therefore cannot posses items or be seen, although they can still cause significant gusts of wind outside when traveling. They find this powerlessness a bore, and often hibernate until next fall.
If Harvester happens to be killed (although usually, a regular mortal could not hurt them,) they remain “dead” until the next fall season comes around, where thence they resurrect themselves out of a random pumpkin. Sometimes they seek revenge by playing mean tricks, and other times they really don’t care enough.
Harvester creates their “children” with magic. They usually select a pumpkin or a pile of bones or something pretty that catches their eyes and works with another spirit to give it life! The genes of both “parent” spirits will determine the species and patterns of the “offspring;” after all, little Harvester duplicates sound like a bore to original Harvester, and they prefer variation! These children usually start off as regular dragons, but may have some kind of small, unordinary power or ability or enhanced senses, strength, or speed due too being created by magic. As they grow older, the children can choose to become spirits or remain physical, living beings whenever they’re visited by one their “parents.”
Harvester can also breath life into some small toys, although this usually means giving those toys a small piece of their soul to make them live. Their favorite of such is Syrup, a simple wind-up mouse that a child gifted them one Halloween year. It has become their best buddy and most treasured relic.
Harvester loves to make friends, even if they can only see them one season a year!
