Biography

Fiddlehead ferns come from the Ostrich fern; they are the tiny, curled up shoots that form as the plant sprouts in spring. The fern is native to the United States and Canada. They are delicious, slightly nutty shoots that are steamed or sautéed. They pair very well with eggs and can be used for omelets and scrambles.

Just remember to cook it thoroughly. Otherwise, the raw plant's toxins will give you a nasty case of indigestion.
