Apprentice of The Many

The Coven of the Emperor

Much of the Imperial breed's lifestyle seems to revolve around not accidentally creating an Emperor - including social habits and how they treat their dead. Other breeds seem oblivious to the threat, and they consider the treatment of the sick and the burial rites among Imperial dragons something of a mystery.

Emperor dragons are a danger on battlefields where many Imperials have fallen, as the creatures are created from their fused bodies. Some specimens have reached over 100 meters in length and most have duplicate body parts. These ghastly behemoths are believed by dragons to be mindless monstrosities; however, some Emperor heads may actually retain some memories and thought, despite how simple and warped it may be. The amount of sentience the Emperor has may very well depend on how decayed it is.
Emperors can possess up to 11 heads, each capable of wielding the elements of the dragons that spawned it. They destroy without thought and absorb elemental energy from everything surrounding it. Emperors are not to be trifled with. It may take the combined efforts of many clans to bring down an aberration of this magnitude; these dangerous opponents are one of the few creatures that may draw the gods from their shrines and onto a battlefield.

It's not an easy way of life when your passion leads you to follow something your peers find taboo... especially when there are excellent reasons for the habits and rituals you've followed all your life. The pursuit of forbidden knowledge is fraught with peril, excitement, and - above all - dedication. You have to be utterly devoted to a subject to give up your place in society when it turns on you.

The Coven of the Emperor started when one Imperial began to question everything he knew about "the monstrosities" that could be formed from their dead. Unfortunately, most of his species seemed quite happy to stick to just avoiding the unholy re-birthing of their fallen brethren into destructive, mindless, decaying creatures of horror.

Eventually, however, the Master found others of open minds, broad curiosity, and a healthy dose of rebellion to join him in his endeavors. One Imperial from each element, united as a whole, to see if they could unravel the mystery of the undead behemoths. Their ultimate goal was to find out if a different sort of creature could be created instead; could memories be retained, the hunger eased, and decay halted? If changes could be made to a dragon during its life that led to a creature of infinite wisdom and power instead of instinctual need, wasn't that worth the risks they took?

Their clans didn't think so. Especially since the group refuses to part at any time, and so every time they venture into dangerous places they are risking the world at large if enough of them should fall together. When the Coven refused to be disbanded, a trial began to determine if the members should be sentenced to death and burning, their ashes scattered to the wind.

Before that could happen, the dragons packed up their research and left. Desperate for a place they could be together and not be persecuted, they found themselves drawn to Chaotic Daydreams. Here at this hidden lair, the Coven continues their studies, and their friendship, knowing that they will have support and help from the other outcasts in the clan.
