A Sage trying to stop an apocalypse of Hydras.

Nimbus is a powerful dragon born into a Quarantine Zone of the Plague Flight, but was much closer to the Arcane flight, as his father was a representative of it. For most of his life, however, he was very interested in Virology, studying closely the knowledge of the Filthy One's many viruses. This was how he grew up, not quite as interested in the aggression he saw in other Plague flight members. One day, while he was collecting a sample, he heard a roar and looked over, finding a powerful amalgamation of Imperials, unlike anything he had seen. He managed to fly out of reach but perched himself atop a higher rock to see what was happening. He watched as they chased after a young skydancer, feeling immense guilt he couldn't help them as they fled, but then he saw them grab a bucket and take from one of the pits and throw it onto the Emperor, using the chance to fly away. He watched the Emperor dragons roar at them- and then watched as, over a few hours, the draconic menace grow sick and tired before slumping down, dying a second time. Nimbus was amazed- a singular dragon, taking out an Emperor? And without laying a talon on them! He waited, ensuring the body was truly gone, before examining it. The body showed signs of decay and the blisters smelled distinct in a way he couldn't describe- it wasn't anything he'd experienced beforehand. He took a sample from the same cauldron to experiment. In those days, he figured out that this bacterial infection spread primarily throughout corpses, and that in an undead dragon, like Emperors, it would cause rapid deterioration and sickness. He soon found himself deciding to move to the Arcane flight, which had much more information on Emperors and seemed to be actively researching them. On his way there, he encountered a nocturne explorer whose magic had been stolen from her by an Emperor, and that ongoing research was going on in her Clan on Emperors and what to do about them. Finding this out, he moved in and began doing a large amount of research and attempting to get the bacteria to repopulate and mutate (without making it dangerous to living dragons, of course). He also educated the flight very strictly on how to properly tend to Imperials and is otherwise the lead researcher on this topic. |
