Era una mattina di sole, Zephyr e Dahlia stavano valutando l'acquisto di altro spazio quando notarono del movimento alla periferia del loro lair. C'era un fae dai brillanti colori e gli occhi che rimandavano al dominio dello Stormcatcher. -Ehi, posso aiutarti?- gli domandò Zephyr e lui lo squadrò da capo a piedi: -Sei tu Zephyr, capo del clan Dragonero?-
Il tundra annuì e lui si presentò: -Io mi chiamo Kaz Brekker e sono qui per entrare nel tuo clan.-
-Uhm... come mai?-
Il fae si lasciò andare a un sorriso: -Soldi.- Zephyr stava per fare altre domande ma Dahlia lo spinse da parte: -Soldi?? Devi parlare con me allora!- e Kaz sorrise, come se Dahlia fosse stata da sempre il suo obiettivo.
Quando Kaz uscì dalla grotta di Dahlia, aveva un sorriso pericoloso. Non si capiva cosa gli passasse per la testa, ma una cosa era certa: aveva un obiettivo. Stava cercando un drago specifico, l'ultima volta che era stato visto era lì vicino e Kaz ci giurava il terziario che presto sarebbe entrato in quel clan. E lui sarebbe stato lì ad accoglierlo. -"Pekka..."- pensà rabbioso il fae -"Sono qui che ti aspetto a braccia aperte."-
