Biography

Caster
Historian, Librarian & Lorekeeper

The library that resides within the clan is large and has a big, circular glass roof in the middle section that shines light down on a young tree that resides within. Plants and vines hang from each available space, making everything look overgrown and abandoned, but the bookshelves and the books they hold are all perfectly intact, an enchantment keeping away anything that may damage them such as dirt, bugs and humidity.

As you walk inside, a large murky green and cream Aberration turns one of its heads towards you, a smile on its face, it quickly gets the attention of the other head with a gentle nudge and then both speak in unison as they address you.

"Welcome to our library!"

"Have you come to learn the history of our beloved clan?" Spoke the darker colored head.

"Or maybe you're interested in the Aged Tomes of each member, housing their stories?" Spoke the other.

The darker of the two heads grins, nodding approvingly. "I knew you were the studious type from the moment I laid my eyes on you! Follow me."

The Aberration turns and leads you to the center of the library, to the young tree, a podium with a very thick, old looking book sitting atop it, seeming as though it had been gathering dust. It plucks it up with its claws and blows on it, gently patting it down afterwards, chuckling.

"My apologies, normally our residents come here to check out poetry or novels, or gossip with this one here." It points to its other head, causing it to roll its eyes. "It's been some time since we've had someone such as yourself be interested in how our clan had started!" It places the book back on the podium, opening it up for you and smiling, "I won't delay you any further, please enjoy!"

It leaves you after that, walking back towards where it had been standing before. "Ah!" It looks to you, "If you need anything from me, don't hesitate to ask." It rounds a bookshelf after that, disappearing from sight.

Clan History

Thirty years ago a young shadow born mirror wandered the lands in search of a place to plant the seed of a large, glowing blue tree that resided in the Will ‘O Whispers Woods, the tree that he called home. He had discovered a Ley Line within the light territory, deep within the Gleaming Forest and thought it would be a suitable spot for the seedling to take root.

As light seeped out from a crack in the ground, thick like cold honey, the mirror bent down to plug it up with the sapling. At first, it didn’t seem to do much, the light attempting to push through any gaps that it could, but after a few heart pounding moments it began to seep into the tree. He watched as the wood turned from blue to brown and the leaves began to change to shades of orange and yellow, taking on the appearance of the other trees that surrounded them.

He came back every year for ten years after that, checking in on its growth, watching as the magical energy he had helped to cultivate changed and grew in new and exciting ways. This tree would need a clan, Ender already had his own, he knew he had to entrust it to someone that would be able to protect it and treat it with the same tenderness that he would. He gave the venture to his dearest friend Cucurbita, a young Imperial with a great deal of promise and a heart bursting with love.

She moved in with a small group of found family, slowly growing the clan from lost dragons that couldn’t find their place within The Blue Tree, finding peace sleeping while being touched by the light from its leaves. Another year had passed in the blink of an eye, when a discovery had been made about the tree. Sitting, nested atop clovers and being cradled by the tree's roots, was an odd looking egg that seemed to be made from the tree itself, glowing eerily. The Arch Druid Cucurbita, not knowing what to do with this odd looking pod that had been delivered to them, allowed it to grow. In only a few weeks time a dragon made from flesh and blood like all others had emerged from the pod, already fully grown and seeming completely unaware of how he had gotten here.

The clan had been in shambles for the months following, some taking pity on the young dragon’s existence, while others were in an uproar over why The Arch Druid would ever allow a monster such as him to stay with them. She reassured everyone that The Ley Tree wasn’t evil, that it would never do anything to hurt them after they had been so careful in their care for it…but some were still skeptical. Many left after that, and after discussion with the remaining Elders and her trusted Paladin, they decided to keep the tree's magic a secret from anyone else that had decided to settle with them.

They tried to get word to their sister clan after that, the Arch Druid sending her husband as he was the only expendable dragon that could be trusted. He came back, assuring everyone that help would soon be on the way, yet weeks passed and nobody came to assist them with understanding the magic of the tree. The dragons that knew of what had been transpiring reacted in a plethora of different ways, some sad, others anxious, and a few were filled with rage thinking that they had been abandoned, but the Arch Druid stayed faithful, hoping that her old friend would soon be there to assist them with their problems.

Twenty long years had passed with them waiting for help, a letter, anything. Though it only took three before Bita realized that she was going to have to take matters into her own claws.

They were lucky in a lot of ways, as the dragons that were drawn to them all seemed to have extraordinary talents that were useful in a growing clan that didn't have help from anyone else. A young, talented alchemist with a passion for research was the first to settle with them, working tirelessly on figuring out the variety of magic that was within the tree. An apothecary came after, warm-hearted and ready to heal any of those that might need it.

Many more came throughout the years as well, including more paladins, some orphans and even a necromancer. The most notable of all being two more dragons that had popped out of the tree just as Dichondra had, claiming to be its guardians and refusing to answer any questions that The Grove had.

And now we at the present day, the contents of these biographies detailing each dragons story, their past, and interactions that they've had with members of this clan, as well as their sister clan.

The forest surrounding the Gleaming woods has an abundance of Insects and Pheasants, drawn to the incredible flourish of flowers that grow within, these items have become a staple for The Grove, filling up their storage to keep dragons fed through winter. The favorites among the clan, and the items that go the fastest tend to be plump Grouse and Black Witch moths. Fog Flowers, Grove Ferns, Dayglo Thresh, Brussels Sprouts and Water Mimosas are also quite popular and are commonly made into mouth watering salads.

Because of the variety of Flora within the woods, many dragons have become enamored with bringing home some of the prettier gems that they may find on their walks and pressing them into each houses respective Aged Tome, such as fallen Red Maple Leaves, Sage Shells and Pressed Moon Flowers. Though it is not uncommon for larger items to be added to hoards as well, like Fungus-Covered Branches or even sparkly Dolomite Geodes!

Dried Cedar Branches that have been broken off from The Ley Tree are collected because of their respect towards it, reused in ways that would be beneficial to the clan, such as by becoming kindling so that they may warm their houses in the wintertime. The clan also does this with the glowing sap that the tree secretes, many wearing jewellery made from Amber.

The Paladins, the dragons with the most agility, strength and magical prowess of the clan also double as hunters, collecting Vision Orbs and beautiful Sunspot Clouddancer Hides that get traded with their sister clan. They exchange for goods that the clan is unable to make itself, such as a Copper Pocketwatch or a Prairie Polearm.

The Grove choice, continued...

You've been in the library for awhile now, the bright light slowly beginning to fade away as the sky turns dark, colors of orange, pink and purple clinging desperately to the horizon. The brightest of the night's stars begin to show through as the Aberration from before walks back into the room, holding a tray that has a large candle on it as well as a steaming mug, it smiles at you.

"Apologies, I don't mean to bother you while you're so engrossed in reading, but I thought that you might like some light, as well as a drink." It sits beside you, the other head seeming to be snoozing, curled up against the neck of its counterpart.

"Here you are." It hands you the mug, the fragrance of spiced cider emanating from it. "I'm delighted that you've decided to stay and read for this long. Despite the fact that many of our clan members have been here their entire lives, not many know the entire story. There's a dreadful amount of rumours, especially when it comes to poor Ondra.."

Do you...
> Ask about Dichondra
Tell it that you already know

It tilts its head at you, "Oh? You don't know about Dichondra?" It stands up, having you follow it to a different section of the library, grabbing a book off of the shelf and handing it to you. "Normally I'm not one to read these tomes like my other head, but I couldn't help but be interested in his story. I highly recommend it if you're not tired out from what you've already read."

It smirks at you, shaking its head, "Ahh so you have been here before! Were you merely pretending to be studious?" It chuckles, "No matter, I have to admit I'm quite interested in gossip myself at times. Did you know that he's currently having relations with Exquisite, from The Blue Tree? They're the clan that is deeply tied to ours, as you've read. I hope that the two end up having a wonderful relationship together."

It stands, leading you to a different section of the library, filled with all sorts of tomes much like the one that you had read before.

The Aberration, having given you something to drink and showing you a plethora of other books to read, softly claps its hands together. "Well then, enjoy your stay. If you get tired and need to rest, you are welcome to the couches in the reading area. I've already prepared some blankets and pillows for you. If you need anything else, don't hesitate to wake me up." With that it waves goodbye, once again rounding a corner and disappearing from sight.

As the darker colored head sighed, the lighter one beamed, grinning. “Wonderful! Technically the tomes are meant to only be read by the dragons that wrote them…but you can keep a secret, right?” It presses its claws to your back, “Sure you can! Right this way, we have plenty of juicy stories that I’m sure you’ll love!” It leads you through the library. towards the back, to a bookshelf that seemed to be used quite frequently from how little dust there was. It housed a large number of books, all labelled with the names of different dragons.

“There are many different stories here from all sorts of different dragons! I think Dichondra or Cucurbita are probably the best places to start, Bita is wrapped up in a crazy amount of drama! But Ondras will give you the best understanding of our relationship to the tree and stuff…” It trails off after that, tail thumping as it pulls one of the books off of the shelf and opens it up, seeming to have forgotten that it was in the middle of a conversation. After a few moments, the other head rolls its eyes, poking it to get its attention back on you again. “Oh! I’m sorry!” It can’t help but laugh, “This book had recently been moved, its owner added to it.”

The Aberration sets the book that it had just been reading off to the side, plucking several books off of the shelf, piling them into your arms. “Start with those, once you’re finished you can come grab me and I’ll give you some more to read…or a snack, you’ll probably be quite hungry by then.” It smiles, leaving with the book it had seemed interested in before.
