Bryn and Hildr were hatched to a zealously devoted clan in service of the Flamecaller, full of skilled and storied artists. Eager to learn, the young Aberration spent her youth learning how to carve idols of her family's god out of volcanic rock, and quickly began to show promise. He was never happier than when he had a chisel and pick in his claws, pulling out a figure from gleaming obsidian or rough basalt.

In another life, Bryn and Hildr may have gone on to become one of Sornieth's great sculptors— but he never truly got the chance. When the Magmablood Rebuke emerged from the sea, spitting with heat and possibility, the Ashfall Waste split in two, and the young Aberration's clan decided to throw in their lot with the Grand Circle of Forgemasters. All of those burgeoning artists were outfitted and sent out for war, and Bryn and Hildr were amongst them. Having no prior training, she didn't stand a chance. He fell in his very first battle.

But when she woke up, rescued from the field of war by concerned medics, the Aberration found that she had sustained damage far worse than any broken bone or severed limb. Hildr looked to his right and saw that where Bryn had once been attached to his torso, there was now a bleeding stump. The war had taken one of her heads, and the grief was too much for her to stand. Brought to a breaking point, Hildr lost faith— in the war, in his clan, and most crucially, in his god. All she had left to her was her art.

To that end, when Hildr recovered enough to be dismissed from the hospital, he decided to leave the Ashfall Waste, forever if he could manage it. With only statuary left to her name, she fled all the way to Dragonhome, trying desperately to fill the religious void in her heart with a new, shaky faith in the Earthshaker, who could provide endless stone for art. He found the Temple of Stone's Creed and, struck by its beauty despite not being an Obelisk, begged to stay there and hone his newfound belief. Demure was moved by her story, and Hildr was allowed to stay.

Now provided with a safe place to rest his head, Hildr is learning how to deal with the grief inflicted on him that he crushed down over his journey. Many of the elaborate pieces of statuary that inhabit the Crystalline Hall were carved by her, and though some are sold to benefit her new clan, Hildr is always making more. Bereft of what was once constant companionship, Hildr has let his work consume him.

Thankfully, however, there are those who care. Demure takes care of Hildr and ensures that she eats and sleeps, visiting her in her artistic berth to pull her from the rubble when needed. And as his skill grows, some dragons from visiting clans are even interested in his work, something that Hildr has never even considered possible before. If she manages to pull herself from the morass of her heartbreak, she may find a world much kinder than she expects around her. But until then, Hildr remains, carving Aberration after Aberration with only one head...

◈ Generally, Hildr introduces himself to strangers as Brynhildr, not just his own name. It makes her feel less alone.
◈ Sienna is a Tigerblood Foo who Demure adopted for Hildr in an effort to draw him out of his shell. Thankfully, the two bonded, and Sienna now spends a great deal of her time in Hildr's carving nook, standing as still as the rest of the statues there.
