As Brevity walked along the remains of a bloody battle, he looked upon the dead bodies before him. "Such a shame.." He said to himself, looking at the still dragons littered across the battlefield as if they were toys in a hatchling's playroom. He saw Faes, imperials, spirals, wild claws, and a flurry of different colors and genes filled his eyes along with an overpowering shade of deep red. Brevity sighed, stuffing the dead body of a green fae into a large bag and lifting off to go back to his lair that no dragon knew of. He entered his laboratory, putting on a white lab coat that had many blood stains on it. He walked back over to the bag, unloading the body that was stored inside it and placing a jewelry box beside it. It read, "Do not touch, Tourmaline's jewelry". The box was large and was able to hold a hatchling inside. A few moments of silence passed by as Brevity was anticipating something to happen.

Suddenly, the box shook and rattled, Brevity nearly jumping in delight as he began to slowly creak open the black wooden box. A small silver head popped out, a small hatchling with muted green wings crawling out of the box. The hatchling's wings fluttered, the large, speckled, intricate, and fragile frills on its head fluttering as it saw the dragon standing before it. Brevity put on the warmest smile he could, reaching to grab the hatchling made of steel. He picked up the surprisingly small hatchling with ease, inspecting the newly created life form that was held between his talons. The hatchling's scales were cold like steel, the green on its wings reflecting light as if its wings were emerald. It's almost as if the dragon was created from the jewelry inside the box, and it was. The hatchling was a Jewelry Box Fae.

The hatchling made of jewelry chirped, squirming in Brevity's grip. The older dragon flicked his tongue, looking at the steel hatchling. Brevity brainstormed a name for it. "Your name is Irongrass, hatchling." The larger dragon said, trying his best not to chuckle as said hatchling let out a confused chirp. Tiny claws scratched at Brevity's talons, as the hatchling wanted to be free of the dragon's grasp. This request was denied, Brevity instead holding the hatchling in both hands. "Interesting.." He said to himself, admiring the shimmering silver on the hatchling's body and the light emerald on its wings.

Brevity was hatched to a rich clan of disgusting dragons who would gloss over the war they had caused and the dragons that were always lost to it because of their cruel selfishness. He had always hated them, but he needed food to eat and a safe place to stay, so against his soul, he didn't run away. Not until the war barged through their front door and took him with it. Dragon after dragon had poured into that small ballroom, causing chaos and taking dragon after dragon's life away. He felt terrible that day. He hated the ball, sure, but this was worse. So, so much worse. Blood spilled on the once clean quartz floor after another rich ****** dropped to the ground. Brevity had to run through the overcrowded emergency exit, managing to use his small size to squeeze up and around dragon after dragon, time after time. He hated that day so much. He hated living on that day. It only brought him pain and made him lose the only place where he was actually safe. Now here he was, out in the filthy warzone he had always fantasized about dumping the entirety of the rich slobs in his clan and watching them suffer there. Sort of ironic how he was being dumped into that battlefield now to rot with the other unfortunate dragons who weren't hatched into rich families and had to join the war for dominance while still underage. The deities didn't pay much attention to poor subjects like the ones in battle, anyway.

After about two years of trudging through the constant suffering of warzone after warzone, he eventually found a clan that he thought actually wanted him to be there and wasn't just using him for his skill with persuasion, that they only wanted him. Not for his skills, not for his battle smarts, only for him. Oh, how wrong he was. Only a year and a half into joining this clan, he was given to another for free like some object to be traded without any regard for his feelings at all. He felt betrayed, betrayed in no other way before. He felt like they had disrespected his core morals and ideas just because he was taking up too much space in their lair. It felt like that awful day in the ballroom all over again. Except he was the only one in the room and there weren't any violent rioters and war veterans, just dead silence and the skull-splitting anticipation that someone or something is searching for him desperately. He vowed to never trust anyone after that, not even his closest friends.
