Biography

Uh-oh, looks like this wandering shaman has gone a little too far from her home lair and now she's off to see the world! If ever you feel the need to exalt, she'd really appreciate it if you could just return her to her home lair, or to the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, here. This is not necessary, but she would be very grateful!

Sacalia is the daughter of the wildclaw shaman or the clan and the elder skydancer lady of the clan. That clan has been very peaceful for years, thriving in the Reedcleft ascent of the Windswept Plateau. She is from a clutch of three, having two elder sister, one wildclaw and one skydancer. Her mother was very available for them, even while being one of the clans protector, and the hatchlings were pampered. As I said, things were peaceful.
Their family was the biggest of the clan, with four of their older siblings still living in the clan (Macao, Zygaena, Lichmera and Milvus). Their father was often away in both his roles of fighter and shaman. Thus Macao took the role of father figure for the three young dragon. She was very fond of him, often seen running between his paws.
With adulthood coming, she became most radiant and beautiful, getting a lot of attention from the clan and from other dragons. She was a great assets. She had good reflexes and agility, training with her wildclaw sister Emberiza, but also delicate and proper, often seen with Sousa preening each other. Macao and Milvus were both very protective around her, not letting other unknown male dragon coming too close.
Each time her father came back, she would follow him, fascinated. Once he told her to come closer and taught her the basic of shamanism. None of her siblings had that chance yet. As of now she still does not know why he choose her to give his knowledge. She never knew him so well, but shared a deep spiritual bond with him.
One day happened the "thing", as the clan still calls it. She sensed it before, feeling spirits shifting around her and whispering but not yet understanding. That day, at daybreak, the clan was attacked by a big group of centaur. Not seeing it coming, the damages were very important. A lot of hatchlings and youngster were killed, and many dragons injured. Their ressources were taken away, their house destroyed. The fighters came back but too late, not chasing the attacked before the evening. That day everything changed in the clan. Rhynochetos was mad at Penelope, saying a veteran like her should have been able to protect the clan. She was mad at him in return, saying that as a shaman he should have known about it and could have came back to protect everyone. Both of them drifted away. The whole clan decided to change location, walking for the longest time to reach the sunbeam ruins. There they try to establish themselves and heal their wound.
Both her parents found new mate, maybe not permanent ones, and had new children, half brothers and sisters to her. Her brothers are scared, not talking much. One of her sister is planning to go away.

After the attack, her clan decided to move away from the dark memories that haunted all. Sacalia did her best to keep her head high despite the gnawing at her belly and heart. While they traveled, she tried to learn as much as she could from her father. If anyone could figure out what was wrong, what seemed to shake her to her very bones, it would surely be Rhynochetos.

"Commune with the spirits," he said, spreading claws wide to indicate the world surrounding them, ensconced as they were on an island in the middle of the Sea of a Thousand Currents. "You have learned well. I know you'll succeed in this."

Try she did, though it was incredibly difficult. She could get feelings and impressions of the world around her, whispered words here and there, but nothing until they reached the Tsumani Flats. Even then, the Water Spirit she finally heard spoke only in riddles. Incredibly frustrated, she gave up for the rest of the trip, flying in silence as the clan finished the last part of their journey to the Sunbeam Ruins.

Sacalia did not stay. She waited until the clan was settled, then made her rounds. Sacalia checked in on her mother, bade goodbye to her brothers, and left a silent note in the spirit world for her father. They were the best parting gifts she could offer. She then continued eastward, skirting the Hewn City, looking to get to the Beacon of the Radiant Eye so she could find a shaman there. Surely these Light scholars also studied the spirits.

One night, she stopped at a clan on the border of the Hewn City, asking for a place to rest. Her host clan was glad to offer a soft nest and a spot by the fire for the evening meal. Sacalia was grateful, but that was not all that kept her there when the sun rose the next morning. This clan, this Harbinger's Clan, was full of so much knowledge and so much experience. Strangely - in her opinion after a few inquiries - there were no other shaman in the Library, though there were books on its practice.

That day, she began both her own journey in self-taught shamanism as well as sharing the practice with others.

She found a disciple in Gouda, a pensive and reflective Fae. Gouda had spent quite some time in the presence of the Harbinger's Clan, learning what she could and pondering the world among the philosophers of the Light flight. Sacalia found these traits to be highly receptive to the spirits in the land, and as they meditated, Gouda found the voice needed to speak back. The pair spent a short time together, discussing their shared trade, but in time Sacalia knew she needed to move on. There was something else she needed to do in the world, and staying in one place would not allow her to find it. She bade her student farewell and good luck, and took to the sky to find whatever it was - her Truth, as the clan put it - that she needed.

Sacalia traveled south next, to the Southern Icefields. The spirits she encountered along the way were weak and frustrating- that is, until she stumbled upon a guardian named Noire. The young dragon had spiritual energies engulfing her. Sacalia found out that she was born on a Friday the 13th, and that she was searching for answers to her abilities.

The quick pit stop for food and rest quickly turned into a prolonged stay for several weeks. Sacalia mediated with the guardian and in doing so, continued to refine her senses to the spiritual world. She wanted to continue studying with Noire, but the Clan was getting to crowded so the pair decided to depart for warmer weather.
