BARGHEST LORE AND LINEAGE PROJECT
GENERATION IV ROE'S LINE
"I have seen what the darkness does
Say goodbye to who I was" One mistake is all it took for Judeth to devour the soul of the kindly schoolteacher who taught her when she was still a fledgling; horrified at what she'd done, Judeth left her hometown in search of a way to break her curse, eventually meeting Lyr, a skydancer who promised to help her with her curse. |
Under the silence of the full moon, a Coatl curls around a nest of three eggs. Augustine breaths a sigh of relief as the eggs begin to hatch, and the gifts from his estranged mate reveal themselves to the world. His time with his clutch is cut short; his children only know their father's warmth for but a few moments before he's driven off. "Monster! Abomination!" All the triplets can see is the sky; the endless, burning sky. In the height of summer, the sun never sets in the Southern Icefield. The sun is visible, as is the full moon, and the hatchlings know too little to understand how important this moment is. Townsfolk surround them, of haggard appearances, and wave their torches and pitchforks to chase off the Coatl. The townsfolk take in the triplets, and raise them in civilization; by the time the triplets are old enough to leave, they've forgotten their father entirely. Perhaps it's for the best... Judeth gave a low rumbling growl at the skydancer before her, baring her teeth at him. It was an empty threat, she didn’t have the heart to intentionally harm anyone. She just wanted him to leave before she DID hurt him, intentional or not. To her shock and abject horror, the fear in the smaller dragon’s eyes faded, replaced with recognition and awe. He stepped towards her, and Judeth took a step back, foliage crunching under her giant paws. “Stay away!!” He paused at that, tilting his head to the side “I wasn’t certain until you spoke, but…You’re a barghest, aren’t you?” She froze. He knew what she was. There was no way she could stay here any longer. He seemed to think for a moment, then tucked his wings against his sides, turning to head deeper into the forest “come along then” He looked back at her expectantly “The town’s got bounty hunters looking for you, I’ve got a place you can lay low” Judeth watched after him, still frozen in place “Why...? you know what I am so why?” “Hmm” He sat down for a moment, lowering his hood to reveal his gem and antenna “you don’t seem like a bad person” he stated simply “just scared” he paused, looking directly into her eyes, sending shivers down her spine She was snapped out of it as he gestured for her to follow him again “Let’s be off then…?” He stared at her expectantly It took a moment for her to realize he was asking her name “O-Oh! Judeth! It’s Judeth“ she fumbled, finally taking a step closer to the green and grey skydancer “Right, Judeth then” he smiled “I’m Lyr, nice to meet you” lore is a WIP
