Asha founded the clan alongside Jahangir, though their relationship was always purely practical. They had a nest together to secure an heir while the clan was still small, and once young Tarik had hatched and grown to adulthood, Asha stepped down as temporary leader and took her intended role as Jahangir's advisor. She enjoys the utmost respect among the thieves still, and they obey her word as easily as Jahangir's. Most of them came to the clan as orphans and stolen eggs, and she raised them, finding it the best way to secure their loyalty. It has also given her plenty of things to use against them, should anyone feel like turning their coats. Of course, then they would have to get past her guard and foster daughter first, and no one with their mind in the right place will challenge Raythe. She has invited Nathaniel, one of Jahangir's most trusted spies, to share her den as a possible mate; romance and courtship belong in stories, there are far better qualities to look for than attractive features. He is a good father to both her orphans and the hatchlings she's had with him, he is enjoyable company after a long day of intrigue, and he can fight, although not as well as her--therefore, he is ideal partner material. Plus, it always helps that he hears what the thieves won't say in her or Jahangir's presence.
