Biography

House Thorne background and history

The Thorne's inhabit a grand palace sitting atop a rose ladened cliff face on the eastern coast of Draconia in what was once the kingdom of Magnoliosa. The palace is veined heavily with rose vines of every colour and shape, decorating it's pearlescent walls with their delicate petals and gracing the inhabitants within with their pleasant, floral aroma. Spiraling towers reach high into the sky each tipped with a silver rose and lavishly adorned with briar themed silverwork with balconies overseeing the magnificent eastern horizon.

Members of this house are typically born Pearlcatcher, with scales ranging from a deep reddish pink to the most delicate pearlescent cerise. Many of House Thorne's hides are adorned with swirling, dainty markings, reminiscent of that of petals and feathers, while their wings almost always resemble that of the purest and most regal doves.

House Thorne's sigil boasts a pink and a white rose intertwining, with sage green, thorny stems trailing out from all angles in the form of a knotted circle which lies on a much lighter, almost whiteish-pink standard, decorated with elegant silver filigrees to form a shield-crest shape.

In the early days, long before the golden conquest, house Thorne were royalty themselves, ruling over vast expenses of forest and plains that other lesser houses called home. This Kingdom was one of the richest kingdoms on the continent of Draconia due to the kingdom's abundance of fertile lands that stretched the entirety of their territory, and frequently traded with the neighboring kingdoms in grain, floristry and lumber.

Their citizens were well fed, their armies well trained and they are particularly well known for lending their aid to kingdoms suffering times of scarcity and uncertainty - for a price.

A lesser known, darker side of house Thorne looms beyond the rose petal veils that have been so illustriously hung throughout their ancient history. Their prices were known to be extortionately high, and if someone was unable to afford their prices, they'd offer another form of payment, in the form of blood and magic. Many believe their house's words (Our thorns are sharp, our wits sharper) to mean that they are clever in their dutiful affairs, but there is a much darker message they subliminally get across.

Only the most powerful and great houses are aware of -other- services house Thorne provided and may still provide, but only the more illusive, dark members of their cadet house, Bloodthorne, still practice and offer these services. What these services may be we may never know, but wherever House Thorne went, strange happenings and disappearences seemed to follow.

The House Thorne we know today is much different than their predecessors, many of the main house's members shunning and despising the dark and nefarious toilings of their more illusive cadet branch, and even went so far as to outcast the founders of house Bloodthorne, leaving them to conduct their dark practices away from those who were affected by them whether they liked it or not. Over three hundred years later, house Bloodthorne is just as cemented in Draconia as a greater house as any other, despite their banishment from their former family by none other than Rosebud's mighty ancestor, Briarwood the Banisher.
