Biography
You, whoever you are - wanderer, merchant, pilgrim, researcher, spiritualist, exile - for your own reasons you have found your way to the ruins of the Pillar of the World, where the lonely Earthshaker is said to reside mourning its destruction and guarding the land. To the North and West are weeks of travels' worth of mostly barren desert. To the East lie vast fields of tall, jagged boulders difficult to travel through, but beyond lie the Colonnades of Antiquity, a bustling market. To the South, a deep canyon is broken into the earth, the Greatwyrm's breach, dotted with caves that house a few hundred clans over the many miles and branches it spans out to the edge of Plague territory. Who knows how you got here?
Close to the pillar itself, it becomes quieter and less populated. The ground and cliffs are littered with large pieces of broken rock. Some about the size of a mirror, many larger, and closer still one begins to see such pieces the size of small islands floating without explanation. The size of the shattered world pillar is overwhelming and difficult to understand. About 40km in circumference, (the distance of a marathon), it takes the average dragons about 5 hours to travel the distance in the heat. There is not much incentive for most dragons to venture this far. The Earthshaker is not physically seen as no gods are in this era of Sornieth. They dropped out of the world beginning with the Tidelord, and many clans don't think about them much in this age. But the relics of their existence have literally shaped the world, and closer to where the Earthshaker was once said to manifest in the flesh, there is a very unusual feeling and atmosphere.
[Visual inspiration: Skyloft, the Hengshan Hanging Temple or the Western Air Temple.]
You spot a geometric structure hanging on the side and underneath a few of the large floating islands made of pillar rubble. Is this your destination? You make your way up a cascade of smaller fragments until you can fly over to a pad of stone, clearly made for dragons to land, which sits on the underside, turned right side, of an upside down stone temple roof. On inspecting your surroundings, a shiny pile of rubble quickly recognized as a house sized imperial, opens his eyes and shakes off. He yawns unthreateningly and doesn't rise to his feet but lowers his head towards you.
"Hi Traveller - I'm Obsidian. Welcome to this Pillar Temple, there are a small number of dragons living here. If you are looking for someone or something, I may be able to help you?"
Iridescent black scaled male dragon, who takes after rainbow obsidian.
He is quiet and docile, and a common fixture by the entrance of the temple since smaller tunnels and chambers don't always accomodate him. Thus he's also taken on the role of receptionist and directory, which doesn't particularly come with too many extra responsibilities luckily for him. Although he is usually out in the open and keeps an eye on everyone, he rarely gets in anyone's way or business, and is well liked. He has never been heard complaining about anything.
He has a crazy talent for fiber arts and his den has a section just for collecting nice fabrics and threads, which spills out to the rest of the cave anyways. Merchants of course can't regularly make the trip out to the temple to sell directly, so he receives a catalogue by raptorik a few times a year to order from. He mostly does rug weaving and embroidery. Projects easily take him upwards of 100 hours and he is always kept busy, by personal projects or outside orders. The clan is kept in good supply of blankets and cushions thanks to his work!
