» leblanc. « ━ "the gentleman" ━ [luh ∙ blanc] ♂ ENTJ ━
the crown's promise of prosperity within the lair came well to many, never before has this territory seen such an advancement in machine power until his arrival to the throne. and yet... behind each one of those glorious clouds of smoke, a dragon is there to power it. a dragon seen as nothing more than a cog in a machine by the upper ranks. those who are seen as unprofitable may be sent to the glorified fate of meeting our Mather, but what about those who are seen as nothing but profitable?
here are the alleys, hidden between each flaring candle is a place of darkness. a place where the upper ranks may never suspect such level of organization. a place of union between those less fortunate than those above, a place where those who lack special talents linger in the muffled light. only to be given a taste of hope and importance in return for their loyalty, by the hazy face who understands the worst it all, the faceless of masked origins, by leblanc. |

pre unified forges. they didn't see him, but i did. i saw everything, i watched. the rowing of the boat against the sea, each sway followed by the thump of its passengers and their chains. humidity enough to soak the fur of a tundra who has known nothing but matted fur, calloused paws. we were here to serve a greater purpose, so... what good would grooming do? "there's a knot in your mane again, hold still holly." such a soft tone contrasted the face of the burly tundra, but it's the only side of theo that holly has ever known. in the deck of the ship, the two sat in near silence. if the endless sea stood still enough one could see the rising and lowering of numerous silhouettes as they hummed raspy breaths. this was comforting to the young holly during the nights he couldn't sleep, he had not yet learned to accept his fate. but there he was, holly knew he never slept either. a wildclaw who lay next to him and his brother, bright pink eyes that seemed to always be watching something while all other heads were down on the floor. maybe it was only because of their similar ages, maybe it was because the young tundra's intuition, maybe he just wanted to believe in some alternative ending, but he wanted to be friends. it was easier than expected to cause a small distraction as the wildclaw undid a pin on a prisoner guard, holly having no issue holding their attention with feignly crafted concerns. they both knew their odds were slim, but the adrenaline rush itself had been enough incentive for the young tundra. "i'm holly by the way, do you have a name?" the tundra whispered as the two sat across from eachother, a support column hindering much of their sight in the already dullened space. |

"my older brother, theo, gave me my name.. would you like us to help you come up with one?"
"how big do you believe this world is?" the wildclaw interrupted. "i've seen numerous climates on my journey here but not a single end, and these guards.. i suppose they have their own families somewhere else too. here we are with a small view, perhaps nobody else will ever see exactly what we have. what seems a great tragedy for us is just irrelevant to everyone on the other side of the column."
he was right.
the following nights felt less harsh, for now holly had someone who understood him. another soul within this world who he believed to live the same sentience, how he believed they would escape together.
"...three?
it hadn't dawned on me until seeing theo's lifeless body under the claws of a guard, stupid. you shouldn't resist in a battle you can't win.
me and this other pathetic prisoner, but there was just the two of us. this guard has never seen the fourth.
they didn't see him, but i did.
i saw everything, i watched as he rolled a lifeless body into the trench, i watched as everyone else had their heads down in distraction. i watched him flee from the scene without ever looking back at me."
words that rang in the head of the young tundra as he was forced back into his shackles. deep down he knew these thoughts were only to distract him from the pain of the searing iron burning away at his flesh, from the reality that there was nobody left in this vast world to fall back on. permanent scarring on his face meant more difficulties in future escape attempts, it meant when he watched the reflections in the water, holly was no longer there. but of course he had gained something greater in return, an idol.
"so instead, i will look forward to seeing you again"
