"Why should I conform to the wishes of those peaceful tyrants, when they have shown our kind nothing but disgust? Your old queen has passed, and it is time for a new era. An era that will restore our glory of fear and danger over the lands."

Centuries ago the Scorched Lands were ruled by a dark and fierce clan of Vampir-born dragons. Their queen's name is said to be so intently cursed there is no recording of her name. She is known only as The Tyrant's Queen. The clan was feared by all; even by the very deities that rule the kingdom of peace from above. It is said that one day the queen had fallen into a deadly trap: one the peacemakers call love. A child was born of this affair, which marked the downfall of the Queen's barbaric yet glorious tribe. The war that sparked raged on between the lower clans lingering around the outskirts of the kingdom before Nyx and Hades had intervened. But by then it was already too late. The old queen was dead and the clan wiped out, leaving the Sorched Lands divided among the survivors of the war. The once thriving tribe of Vampir-born dragons were considered extinct, until the day a mysterious dragon of blood scales and dark soul arose from the ashes. And her name: Carmilla.

The origins of Carmilla are unknown. Even her closest subjects have been unsuccessful in discovering this young queen's roots, yet rumors still circulate within the dark shadows of her fortress. Many say she is the daughter of their late queen; one born of the forbidden affair they so often speak of. Others believe she was simply one of the few who hid during the Grand War, despite her naturally barbaric roots. One thing they can say for sure though: Carmilla is greatly worthy of their loyalty with such strong blood running through her veins.

The young queen looked down upon the ruins of her broken kingdom, the deep blood of her watchful eyes piercing through the weakened figures of her kind. She has seen this same sight many times before, yet now there was something new buzzing in the air other than flies around the lingering carcasses. Her distaste for the weak was not secret, as a dark plume of smoke arose from her disgruntled snout. She had ignored the warm presence that settled beside her before a familiar voice spoke. "Are you not satisfied with the reform, your Highness?" Absalom's softness was not lost on Carmilla. Despite the hatred she harbored for those with kindness in their hearts, she couldn't shake the other royal off of her tail no matter how hard she tried. No response came from the queen, as she continued to look away from those warm eyes of Absalom's. There is no fire in his heart, she thought, only a cozy hearth of peace. What a waste...
