Biography
Maxion could be described as a dragon who wanted things to be perfect. And things were as close to perfect as they could be while managing a large number of dragons who never seemed to agree on anything.
In between all the arguments he'd broken up, he'd had children. And then some of his children had had children. He shuddered as he thought of it. Already a grandfather and no grey hairs to speak of. Heck, he was barely out in the world as it was!
"You alright?" Cordelia asked as she walked in on him having a crisis about this.
"Fine," said Maxion. "Just coming to terms with the fact that I'm apparently a patriarch."
"What, you old sod?" she laughed, the music in her voice making Maxion smile. "You're hardly out of your egg!"
"I know," said Maxion, frowning. "I'm not ready to be a grandfather. Even some of the older ones aren't grandparents yet!"
"Well, that's because they all came from a celibate clan. We could put you there if you wanted?"
"No, no," Maxion barked a laugh. "How would you all get your paperwork done?"
"I'm sure we'd manage," Cordelia snickered.
Maxion sighed and pressed a claw on one of the parchment rolls to sign it. "I'm just thinking about how this was even more work than we had originally thought. How did Clan Mist ever deal with it?"
"They probably dealt with it much the same," Cordelia pointed out. "You were just on the other side of it, and you were also a youngling. You had no idea what things went on behind closed doors at Clan Mist, like none of the young ones here have any idea if we're in dire financial straits or not."
"We're not in dire financial straights at the moment," Maxion sighed. "We have a hundred thousand treasure in the vault at the moment, but we'll need to spend it all soon on another expansion."
Cordelia smiled warmly. "We're raking it in at the moment. I'm sure we'll be fine, Maxion, you'll see."
Maxion watched her leave the records room, feeling at the same time both better and worse from the conversation. True, Cordelia had a point about the Clan Mist bookeeping, but honestly, had everyone seemed as stressed as he was over there? Maybe it was because he didn't know what he was doing. That was it.
Probably.
