The Wavefinder

Better to be swimming.

Photobacterium are unavailable to run between Captain Kellintaal and Cindercone Clan, as they are engaged with an undertide outpost they have found. The brothers are having a fine time discussing the ins and outs of various swimming styles, and whether having legs is better or not.

*

Photobacterium detest Greenskeeper Gathering. They like open waters, without choking waterweeds, and have set out into the deep water to get away from the inspired plantlife.

Photobacterium is the name shared by these abberation brothers. An extremely harmonious pair, they rarely feel the need to distinguish between each other in day-to-day life. Marinus, with two eyes, is somewhat the leader of the pair, and when in doubt he makes the decisions. Profundus, the three-eyed brother, is more laid-back and, if possible, more obsessed with swimming. However, they are rarely in disagreement about anything they need both participate in.

The brothers are extremely enthusiastic about swimming. However, as even a brief conversation will reveal, they do not mean in the Wyrmwound, but in the Outer Ocean and the wilder parts of the Sea of A Thousand Currents, battling currents of bitter cold and magmatic heat and the crushing pressure of the depths of the Leviathan Trench and exploring the life that flourishes there. They can dive to an impressive depth, and often linger there for days on end, observing and testing their strength against the native life.

Photobacterium spend most of their life at sea, but have happily been lassoed into providing running communications for Cindercone Clan between the main clan and Kellintaal's pirates. Lately, they have also rumored contact with strange dragons that dwell in a blue hole in the ocean between Arcane and Plague, whom they think would make excellent allies for the Fire clan. They have an affinity for Dogfish (mostly Profundus) and Flux (mostly Marinus), and for fellow diving enthusiast Spearmint.

Craft
While not strictly required to take up a craft, both brothers have been enthusiastic about learning the ways of Fire. Marinus favors strung shells that serve as both visual and audible decorations, while Profundus prefers carvings, both in the ground and on various found objects. They often collaborate, inlaying driftwood or stone carvings with colorful and iridescent shells.

Physical description
Photobacterium is a fairly large, stocky abberation. Their shimmering manes are close and dense, almost like penguin feathers, and their hide is thick, sleek and rubbery like a dolphin's. Dull in color under most conditions, they have broad photophoric patches along their sides and wings that light up in pressure or high emotion. They swim with a combination of powerful kicks and wing-strokes, and are accomplished if somewhat one-directional flyers, but are abysmally poor on land, barely able to coordinate a slow, lumbering walk. They have a smooth, Water scent overlaid with brine, and barely a trace of the Wyrmwound rot typical of aberrations.

Combat
Photobacterium have a straightforward fighting style, blending moderate speed with strength. They prefer to strike from water or on the wing whenever possible to avoid their less-than-impressive overland abilities.

Origin
Photobacterium were hauled aboard Captain Kellintaal's ship in a fishing net, where they were roundly interrogated by Haolurren Seeker and then released. They tagged along with the pirates until they made port on the Blackrock Strand, whereupon they met Spearmint and Arietty and decided they rather liked this strange Fire clan.

Kin
Photobacterium is the son of Wyrmwound escapee Lucifer and pioneer Lillith, members of a young but rapidly-growing clan in Flotsam Town.
