Biography
While exploring the small artist's community, you meet a strange dragon, glaring intensely at a log. You didn't think he saw you walk up behind him, but he asks you:
"Does this log look right to you?"
To you, it looks like a perfectly fine log, as far as logs go. But his eyes do not waver in their examination of this poor piece of tree. He picks up the log and turns to see you, flaking off some of the bark with his claws.
In a deep, croaking voice he says, "I know what you're thinking, everyone always thinks a log is just a log. But this log, this log, has the chance to become new again, to be turned into a beautiful sculpture."
You follow him as he walks through the center of town towards a familiar building: Bougainvillea's art studio. He rounds the studio to the small carving area nearby, and drops the log on the table. The table quivers and groans under the weight of its new burden, and you realize you thought the log was much smaller in the hands of the large guardian. He tells you about his love for wood carving, and his attempts to teach his artform to his apprentice, Bougainvillea, which isn't going as well as he hoped.
"He's not a lost cause though. I know he has a passion for it. He's been carving little trinkets for months. I'm hoping getting to help me on a larger piece will be good practice for him."
You glance over at the smaller carvings on a nearby table, and know immediately whose craftmanship they are. But, just outside of the clearing in the shade of the forest, you can see several grand wood carvings of dragons, almost exactly life like, as if they were ancient forest spirits.
