It was once it became apparent to Rosdor that she simply didn't have the time to personally attack every one of her enemies, she began employing Abalone. It was after Rosdor learned just how effective Abalone was that Rosdor offered to have the assassin become live-in. Abalone sources all of her poisons from the clan master, Nightfall, who is all too glad to oblige her.

Mate: Pocky. Rosdor herself admits that the main reason she put the two together was simply because Abalone expressly gave no preferences, and Pocky happened to be a Spiral and single. Still, neither (actively) protest the arrangement.

Honour's Killing

"I thought milady might see me soon." Abalone unwound herself from the tree branch, landing on the ground heavily, "she goes in with a look on her face like her Parda's died, it means there's a decision to be made."

To that comment Rosdor remained stoic. "You aren't wrong."

Abalone laughed, shaking her head. "Well, details then!" she said, crossing her arms, smile wide and toothy.

Rosdor pulled out the scroll she had tucked into her sword belt and handed it to Abalone, saying, "The instructions are here. I'm sure someone of your disposition would even find it enjoyable."

"Oh spare the pleasantries, milady, you flatter me!" Abalone snatched the paper from Rosdor so quickly Rosdor hardly saw Abalone's hand move. She broke the seal with a claw and scanned over the words in seconds. She hummed with delight, "Five drownings and a strangulation! Oh, Rosdor, you shouldn't have!"

Rosdor snapped her teeth suddenly, body posture low and threatening, snarling from her throat, "Abalone! Respect!"

Abalone looked Rosdor in the eyes, smile drifting off her face. When she said nothing for five seconds, Rosdor slowly closed her lips to hide her teeth again, sitting back up. Abalone clicked her tongue once, "Temper, milady. You have such a fine, long neck. I don't want to have to break it."

Rosdor stiffened but didn't take the bait. "So long as you take work from me-"

"Ah, no, that's where you're wrong. I don't work for you because you're a leader, it's because you pay me. Now those little grunts in the lair, they look up to you, miss big strong Mirror warrior, because you can protect them. But I don't need you. So as long as you and your 'honour' can tolerate sending a lackey to do your killing for you, we'll get along fine... and so long as I can still twist about your throat as you sleep, I will still speak as I like."

"It is my honour that keeps this lair alive," Rosdor said, voice louder than she meant for it to be.

"No... it's me. But if honour is what helps you sleep at night... then I'll just be on my way to drown those dragons like you wanted." She turned to leave.

"Abalone." Rosdor's tone made Abalone look back, smile now back in place. Rosdor continued, "Don't forget to strangle the Guardian first or he'll raise the alarm."

Abalone grinned even wider, "I glad we understand each other. And hey, I don't blame you. We all have faces we need to wear for the sake of others' peace of mind... I ought to know. It's the burden of those with power, I'm afraid."

Rosdor's lips twitched, almost a wan smile. "Icewarden guard you on your trip. Strike well."

"As milady wishes. Your will be done." Abalone pulled up her hood, pushing off from the ground and twisting off into the air.
