A self-made explorer seemingly straight out of an adventure novel, Pavonini was the kind of dragon that glory always finds. Yet, nothing can truly last forever. After years of escapades, filled with hidden treasures and crumbling ruins, all those ancient curses have finally caught up to him. Literally.

Now afflicted with a lifetime's worth of haunts, hexes, and bad luck, Pavonini is traveling Sorneith in an attempt at damage control. Hoping to stave off his own personal armageddon, it is his wish to fix the mistakes he made, before he is doomed forever.

Joining him on his quest are Marchpane, a meddling young cartographer who dreams of mapping the world's ruins; and Fracture, a masochistic socialite with a craving for danger... and the coin to seek it.
  • About half of his curses cancel each other out, but it's still annoying.
  • His "familiar" is another curse. It just reads everything he writes. So rude. Knows all his banking info.
  • On Fridays he can only speak in iambic pentameter.
  • Pretends he can't stand Marchpane, but really he finds her childish traits refreshing.
  • Fracture, on the other hand, genuinely mystifies him, impresses him, and drives him crazy. Pavonini and Fracture make an interesting pair.

Etymology - Pavonini is a tribe of bird in the subfamily Phasianinae. The peafowl is a notable member of this group.
