He had another name, originally. His father changed it when he was still a baby, after taking him away from his mother.

Everyone always goes on and on about how he looks just like Ambrose. Except Ambrose is about four times as big. Junior doesn't really get it.

He's come to resent his father, though he wouldn't admit it. He's never been mistreated, but he just wants to feel like he is his own dragon. And nobody has ever been clear about the circumstances that led to him staying with Ambrose instead of his mother, anyway. His mother who isn't any better, anyway. All he really knows about her is her name, not who she is or where she comes from. Aside from that he knows she has made no effort to be in his life, and he even heard she is having new hatchlings with another dragon, no doubt to replace him.

He is not really sure where his life will end up bringing him. Because Ambrose is so beloved and respected in the clan, he can't talk about his problems with anybody. He would like to leave and see the world, but the idea scares him, too.
