With your feet covered in the dust of an unfathomable distance traveled, you finally stand before your destination.
There is no sense of victory, no satisfaction of a job well-done.
Even the light of twin moons is not enough to pierce the darkness that all but spills forth from the unnatural chasm in the barrow before you. This place was never meant to be reopened, nothing was ever meant to emerge from the ground.
As far as anyone can tell, nothing has. It is a passage travelled one way only: first by those foolish enough to delve into this most cursed burial site of all Cairnstone Rest's many haunted dwellings, and now--should you choose--by you, the one man rescue party.
There will be no rescue for the rescuer, should you fail.
And still, the way lies open. The path ahead is much shorter than the one behind.
A flicker of light breaks the darkness, so briefly that you may have imagined it, but you are certain you did not.
Someone- something is alive in there.
