Reiri

It seems today was…an unusual start to something. During my daily walk, I found an odd egg, like nothing I had seen before. Before I could move it however, the egg hatched into…an odd dragon, that I realize is a young plant dragon. Reiri is a white birch sapling with icy light blue eyes and striped bark, like a normal white birch. She has small leaves like a young tree, and is inquisitive towards me, nibbling my tail affectionately. I am…not sure how or why she exists, but she seems attached. I think I will care for her.

Today I journeyed to check on the growth of the hatchling. It has been awhile since I’ve seen her, as she avoided me for almost a week for seemingly no reason. When I found her, she was much more filled out, her branches thick and sturdy, her leaves a brilliant green. I was shocked to see she had also grown fruit from her branches, an almost apple like fruit, odd as she is a birch, not an apple, but I found before the plant dragons tend to produce odd tendencies. She seemed her happy,chipper self again, greeting me with a high pitched chirp like sound, and offering me one of the fruits from her branches.
The fruit is better then any I recall having before, with an apple appearance, but a custard like taste, more like a pawpaw. The fruit also has spicy notes,which begs the question of why the plant dragons don’t seem to follow any one pattern with their plant tendencies. She seems to be able to rapidly regrow them as well, she gave a dozen to Pastry earlier, which he made a pie with. She seems proud of his,and my,approval,grinning widely. Later in the evening,she did want more food and water then normal,but it seems to cause her no harm to grow fruit rapidly. Perhaps something more to study!
