Aether

Unlike many, Aether does not consider herself trapped. Tethered to strange place, certainly.

But there is something protective about this place that Aether's tapped into.

Shoal may have gathered this cluster of souls together, but Aether is the one who leads.

She will make the final decisions. She helps make the homes. Helps power up long-dead machines, the benefit of having formerly worked with such constructs before she came here.

She likes the way this place works. Likes being unknown, being in a place others cannot quite reach.

Her former family cannot find her here. They cannot reach her here. Threats cannot break through.

The ones that exist within are understandable, solvable.

She draws comfort in a place not quite designed for it. This may not have been the home she would have chosen, long ago.

But it's the home she's chosen to build. And she will keep building it, and stay, long after the others leave, should they choose to do so.
