Biography

IDRINA BLACKSUMMER
  • A current and extremely passionate defense lawyer, Idrina at first never imagined that she would dedicate her life to the law. She was much more interested in becoming a Companion and joining the artisans of the Tiandi Xueyuan, living in her own little world where only her creations seemed to exist. However, all that changed when her father, a member of the Order of Lumeni, was brought before the court on false charges of conspiracy against the university. He was unfairly sentenced, meaning that he was stripped of his adulthood and made a Stoppager, cast out into the dregs of society. This happened when Idrina was still a Youngling, meaning that since he was no longer an adult, her father could no longer care for her through the vulnerable stages of her childhood.
  • Her induction into the Tiandi Xueyuan’s Society of Law went extremely smoothly. What was not so smooth, however, was her confirmation as a military defense lawyer. See, if you want to be a lawyer in military court, the military court has to vet your character and fitness separately from the Society of Law, which basically means that they get to choose all of their opposition so they won’t have anyone who can meaningfully oppose them. Idrina had to strongly repress her thoughts of wanting to serve as a defense lawyer because she thought the whole process was incredibly unfair. Hahera sensed Idrina’s true intent, but upon Yuanhai using his future vision, the two of them saw that tragically, no matter how hard she fought, Idrina would never be able to change the system or remove the terrible judges from power. She was admitted to the military court’s bar only to taunt her with the possibility of what could have been.
  • That said, it’s not as though she doesn’t do important work. She’s adapted well to the high-stress, high-conflict environment of the military court that she guides dragons accused of treachery through. She has an incredibly high tolerance for stress and confrontation, and so she is by far the best of the military system’s five (5) defense lawyers at the standard routine they go through: just keep objecting, even though the court can shut you down at any time for any reason, until you tire the judges out and they realize that the case is no longer worth digging their claws into. The judge-prosecutors on the military court are bullies after all, and like most bullies, there’s only so far that they can go until they realize that persistence is starting to yield diminishing returns. (Sometimes, though, they’re determined to outlast you, in which case you’re out of luck.)
  • She was the lawyer representing Ahsoka Tano Skywalker during her trial, in which—like Idrina’s father—Ahsoka was falsely accused.
  • Apart from her work as a defense lawyer in the military court, she also does work as a defense lawyer for those accused of the Tiandi Xueyuan’s cardinal crimes of academic dishonesty and admissions fraud. Overall, she has a passion for defending the dragons that Tiandi Xueyuan society considers to be the “worst of the worst”—dragons that no one else wants to defend.
  • Throughout her advocacy, she has grown vehemently opposed to the TDXY punishment of stripping adulthood away from those who they consider to have committed the worst crimes. The ostracism, the humiliation, the way that even a dragon’s family turns against you and anyone who dares to befriend Stoppagers are ostracized, the fact that this punishment is sometimes inflicted on children—Idrina considers it to be a fate worse than death. She detests the Tiandi Xueyuan being so high and mighty about having no death penalty while simultaneously doing this to its dragons, and would honestly prefer bringing in capital punishment if it means stopping dragons from living out these cursed half-lives once it’s decided that they’ve done something beyond redemption.
