ABOUT
She/they
Enjoys strategy games, including haggling over prices at market andstealing maneuvering corpses (animal, beast, and dragon alike) out of the claws of Skinner and Pye alike so she can strip the pelt to tan it into a beautiful hide.
Oh, tanning. A trade passed down from Taun's family. She learned it from her parent, who learned it from their aunt, who learned it from a brother, who learned from their grandparent—and on and on. Asking Taun how far back that line goes, you'll be sitting at the cookfire for the rest of the night as they recite name and relation after name and relation. Furthermore, you show Taun a pelt, most any one, and with a quick glance and perhaps examination (if it's very old or dirty) they'll likely be able to tell you which family clan processed it, as each teaches subtly different methods.
Taun will do anything to keep their family honor and pride as tanners intact. Anything.
AN ANCIENT FAMILY? WITH........FABRICS???
While yes, most ancient breeds enjoy the freedoms of nudity, some clans are just built different. Not that Taun nor any of her family would wear a stitch of clothing, absolutely not. But that doesn't mean one can't touch and admire the supple malleability of leather on one side, and the sleek stroke of glossy fur on the other, of a well-processed and well-maintained hide.
The family clan strives to take any pelt of any creature—any species, any sapience, any size or thickness—and turn it into a beautifully tanned hide. For many a purpose: decoration, package and containers, furniture, warmth. Taun saw unique opportunity arise from becoming a Contractor and traveling between regions with all their varieties of fauna, and a unique client to sell their furs to: a demigod of an otherworldly plane. Independent is pleased, indeed happy, to take any hide Taun makes her, and add it to her throne at Tetrahedron. Brightens up the place, with all those scales and hairs of so many colors, textures, and origins.
And of course, not every creature the Contractors are hired to slay are interesting enough for Independent. But Taun'll cure each one regardless—no waste is one of her family's many tenets—and sell them to whoever else is convenient. As it is, the SILT 'N ICHOR camp, situated in the smaller tetrahedron forest surrounding the volcano base, makes frequent use of hides for their own dwellings.
COMPETITION
Taun and Skinner have formed a truce. The mirror only ever wants to poke around in the weird mutated corpses, and he tries to leave the hide mostly intact for her to remove once he's done.
Pye, on the other wing. Pye the cobbler . . . They'll learn what comes of trying to steal a customer away from a member of her family clan. Oh, they'll learn.
