Ivesce has lived in the clan for as long as anyone can remember. Quirky, friendly, and always willing to take a hatchling or nine under his wings, it was long the topic of debate as to why he refused to choose a mate- until the first incident occurred.
Every dragon in the clan knows better than to go near Ivesce's lair while he's working. For the most part, it's a matter of common sense; the occasionally uncoordinated imperial has a tendency to experiment with items that have... unexpected... consequences. On more than one occasion, he has singed himself and other unfortunate souls who might happen to be wandering by at just the wrong moment. [ Most notably, there was one memorable incident in which he accidentally grafted elk horns onto Inya. Thankfully, Inya held no ill will for startling the alchemist in the first place, and wears her horns with pride. Still, it stands as a very good reason to let him be whenever he retreats to his workshop. ] _____
Working so closely with alchemy for so many years had begun to take a toll on Ivesce's body. His original colors faded with time, slowly warping as magical dust and ash settled into his scales.
A glow emanated from his chest whenever he was working with his alchemical magics- a party trick to some, but a sign of things to come for the healers of the then tribe. The long term use of his magic feeding from Ivesce, turning him from a regular dragon into something Else. Suspected of being part of the Shade, he turned into something of a recluse; researching desperately for something to reverse the adverse effects of his own magic upon him. In the process, his feathers and scales turned from color to color, finally settling as the imperial discovered a long-lost spellbook of cleaner magics. Though he may have changed a great deal in form, there is no mistaking the gentle alchemist's personality... nor his proclivity for experimenting with things he shouldn't. |
