Katydid is a very sweet, bubbly, and energetic dragon... at least on the surface. He's a social butterfly, and gets along well with just about every dragon he meets. Katydid can almost always be seen helping out dragons in Brighthaven. However, beneath that facade is a clever, resourceful thief. Once Katydid gets close to his next victim and is invited to their den, he examines their items for anything valuable. If he finds something he likes, Katydid will sneakily take it from his "friend" later. He sells most of what he steals to dragons from other clans, but keeps a few odds and ends hidden in his den.

There are only a couple of dragons Katydid actually considers to be his friends. He is quite close with Aaron, which seems odd as the two are polar opposites. Katydid loves talking with Aaron, and learning all about the other's interests and hobbies. He has even gone as far as stealing items from neighboring clans for Aaron, all to support his magical research. Katydid also gets along well with Kalahari, and he sometimes tags along with her on brief trips to scout out potentail targets.

Back in his former home, Katydid was just as much of a thief as he is in Brighthaven. He was caught stealing one day, and promptly jailed for it. After a risky prison break, Katydid fled to the Scarred Wasteland, where he knew his pursuers wouldn't follow him (as they were nature dragons). He fought for survival all on his own for several months, until finding a safe oasis in Brighthaven.
