For the better part of his life, Verdigris has been a recluse to end all recluses. As a hatchling, he busied himself with science kits and experiments rather than playing and socializing with his peers, something that initially worried his family. Eventually, they learned to just leave him be and let him enjoy his alone time. Even as he aged, Verdigris never grew out of his isolated tendencies, focusing his miscellaneous studies into the more narrow field of metallurgy. It's said that he can identify a metal from just a glance, and predict the outcome of any alloy or ore mixture. Verdigris is so deeply engrossed in his metal studies that he scarcely knows how to talk to other dragons. Others view his topics of conversation as dull or even excruciating to listen to, with one significant exception: his mate, Aphrodite. Contrary to how most other dragons viewed Verdigris, Aphrodite found his deep, unsocial personality extremely charming. Perhaps after years of witnessing failed romances, she knew exactly what she wanted in a partner. Verdigris is frequently flustered by the mere fact that he has a mate, something he'd assumed to be impossible, and makes a genuine effort to show how much she means to him. Even if that amounts to a few new alloys being named after her, his efforts never go unnoticed, and he's beyond thrilled to have found someone who truly understands and respects him for who he is.
