Big, rough-mannered, mean - that was how folks saw Cypress, and Cypress was content with the assumption. Might've started to believe it, too. The swamp didn't make mild and gentle dragons, after all. It toughened the hide, strengthened the claws, hardened the face. Made dragons like his family! Tough old gits that wouldn't take "uninhabitable" for an answer. The rest of the mercs already know that's a load of crock. The guy loves babies, picks flowers, and saves fish scraps from the mess hall to give to the dock cats outside when he thinks no one's lookin'. Half the little old ladies around Slipshod have him wrapped around their wrinkled claw, calling on him for everything from carrying the groceries to fixing that creaky board in the loft to picking up their medications from the herbalist on the other side of town. And he'll do it in a heartbeat with little more than a "yes'm" before he's off! He's a big lug, and despite his best efforts, everyone knows it. Rumor goes he's got a crush on that pretty (but scary!) gardener lady that works for the company. Folks've spotted him elbow-deep in weeding efforts more than a few times... - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
