The Old Life He was asked to sit on the Council as the representation from the Scholars, Hall of Records, and Repository of Knowledge, seeing as he oversees all functions of the Library since Scholar's departure. However he hates sitting on the Council. All he wants to do is run the Library, and spend occasional days with his mate Mynara. So he is in the habit of sending young librarian dragons to sit on the Council in his stead. A practice the other Council Members put up with only because Oleron is so grouchy when there that an inexperienced dragon is more welcome on the Council than he his. He doesn't get along with his former Second Librarian, Rift. He's a rather bossy and imposing Head Librarian and she got along much better with his predessor Scholar. Oleron rules the Library and those that work there with a level of rigid organization that Scholar didn't really bother with. He imposes strict due dates for checked out books and requires his coworkers to wear uniforms of color coded vests. One day Rift and he got into a fight so bad it almost came to blows. So she said she was going to resign as a Librarian. Unfortunately this came right after Arda, the young apprentice he had representing the Council left with her mate to fight for the Windsinger, and he had no one to represent his wishes on the Council. His library was understaffed and starting to fall apart. So he begged Rift to stay, saying that they would search for a suitable replacement for her, or a young dragon who was interested in learning and easy to teach to be her replacement. Then when that dragon was old enough Rift could leave the Library. Rift found this to be a fair agreement and together they went to the Starfall Isles, the place of Oleron's birth, and adopted a young coatyl hatchling to replace Rift. They raised her together, Oleron teaching her how the Library worked and instilling in her a great respect for books and learning, and Rift teaching her to have the strength to stand up to Oleron's "pigheadedness" and how to do what it took to keep the Library running as well as how to be an effective Councilmember. They named her Leathanaigh and she has only recently taken over Rift's duties who has passed down her brass vest to Leath who is now Oleron's Second Librarian and sits on the Council. Oleron is very happy with this arrangement and hopes that she will become a great scholar. |

 Forced to Flee Oleron has been forced to leave behind his precious library when Teovanth's army pushed out the clan. Fortunately the cave that held the Library was highly secured with puzzles and locks. But he still worries, because one of his own children, Roluth, was with Teovanth's army. Oleron isn't sure if Roluth knew the secrets of his father's library. The former librarian was only able to bring a few of his favorite books with him, each of his underling librarians brought as much of the collection as they could, but the library is a shadow of it's former glory. It doesn't help that he's been replaced in his duties. One of the dragons that lived in the ice caves before the Updraft Knot Clan evacuated into them is an avid reader, so much so his name is actually Scholar, and has a library of his own. The kindly ice tundra offered to make some space in his private library to house the Updraft Knot's remaining collection. But Oleron insisted on keeping his books separate, and he is deeply resenting Scholar and his extensive collection. Unlike most the other scholars and learned dragons he does not want to stay in the Cloudscape Craigs and work to recover from their losses. He wants to go back to their lands in the Windswept Plateau and reclaim his books and his status. He's begun training with the Midnight Army. Learning how to fight so he can drive off the zealous barbarians that stole his library from him. |
