LOREM IPSUM DOLOR SIT AMET -
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
As their name implies, the Hewn are native to the Hewn City. Not as deep-dwelling as the Grimm, the Hewn exemplify their native subregion: shadowed but still unarguably part of light. Their cheerful crystal scales give the impression that they are shining brightly at their core. Like lantern fae, however, they may wrap their dark wings around themselves for concealment in the shadows of the Hewn City or when they simply aren't feeling very "shiny" at the time. Like any species or subspecies, the Hewn are individuals, and vary widely. However, when most dragons think of Hewn, they are thinking of a shy but cheerful dragon who makes friends slowly but holds onto them for life. Life in the Hewn City teaches caution, so they are slow to trust new people or circumstances, and generally prefer to investigate and plan thoroughly before jumping into something new. However, once they jump in, they’re all in; in friendships, they expect and offer complete loyalty, and in business ventures or other challenges they commit every effort to the success of the project. As hunters or fighters, they tend to a preference for ambush techniques and clever strategy over brute force, and this tendency to value cleverness over strength infuses their culture at many other levels. This has occasionally led to their being accused of Shadow tendencies, leaving the Hewn a bit oversensitive on the subject; their worst insult is “trickster!” Young Hewn are taught to use cleverness “to brighten the world, not to darken it,” and may compete to outdo each other with surprise parties and the like, but almost never at pranks (a Hewn who developed a taste for practical jokes would quite predictably end up living elsewhere).
