a scythe kamaitachi runs ahead of the dragon, whose metal leg clanks as they leap from tree to tree. they carry a bow and satchels, and a fresh catch across their back. the kamaitachi looks up, as if to signal to the dragon, who pauses and readies their weapon. a micro deer bolts through the clearing, and the kamaitachi is upon it in an instant, bladed limbs making quick work of it. a second deer follows, then a third, both easily felled by the dragon's arrows. "good work, hemlock," they say, sliding from their perch in the tree to the ground to retrieve their catches, which will go the nearest settlement to be sold as food.
