"the sun warms everything, even when I am far away/love me faithfully, and know that I am faithful"
October always longed to explore. When she came of age, she joined her clan's army as a navigator, and set out around the world. However, she had until then been sheltered from the true horror's of her clan's imperialist campaigns, and found herself sickened at the treatment of a small forested village they placed under siege.

She befriended one of the enemy leaders, Watcher, and acted as a spy for her to help put an end to the fighting. Eventually, however, tensions boiled over, and October ended up giving her own life to protect her friend. When she made the sacrifice, she never expected to wake again, but wake she did, in a peaceful garden of roots and light. She wasn't alive, but Watcher had taken her soul back from oblivion. Together they found refuge, at last.
