stars are massive concentrations of ancient power

celestial dragons hatch from the death of stars

they r siblings in the very loose sense. (they r born from the same nebula)

theyre not very close though

so basically the celestial bodies are playing this universe-wide game of snake in which there are many snakes and they must eat stars to become the biggest snake

so everyone's afraid of the biggest celestial dragon (who has yet to exist in my lair)

when they're not worried about getting eaten by the Universe's Largest Worm they're usually just meddling with mortal affairs out of boredom

aka granting wishes

stars are dense concentrations of magical power. as a star dies, there is a chance a celestial will dragon will form. upon its birth, celestial dragons will consume the remnants of the dead star for nutrients, and not long after the hatchling will venture off into the cosmos in search of more food.

for celestial dragons to grow in size and power, they must consume more stars- or even better, other celestial dragons. when a celestial dragon successfully consumes the core of another celestial, the victor will absorb most of the magical energy that the loser had accumulated over its life. in its adolescence, a celestial dragon will be able to control the power it has absorbed.

to mortals, a celestial dragon flying across the night sky will look like a shooting star. those who wish upon a celestial dragon may be surprised to see their wish come true.

celestial dragons that have lived long enough fear but one thing: ?????, the oldest and most powerful celestial dragon in the galaxy; several light centuries long, it is certainly the reigning queen of these powerful dragons.
