Orion once was a mercenary who offered to aid Kyokko in exchange for coin in the clan's early days. He originally intended to worm his way into her good graces, then sell her out to a rival clan, but he found that he enjoyed her stalwart leadership and protection, and ultimately decided to shift his loyalty and stick around. In his own words, "She's a lady of few words-- I can respect that. Folks say far too much these days and do far too little."

Though she was aware of his deception, Kyokko kept him around for his exceptional cunning on the battlefield, knowing that if he should truly cross her, she could crush the little dragon underfoot like a fallen twig. Kyokko and Orion maintain this mutual understanding to this day, and it forms the core of their long and fruitful alliance.

Orion is an extremely effective war strategist and has a talent for identifying would-be traitors, being a career liar himself.

Orion was once a spiral dragon, but after consuming a healing potion altered by Edda without his knowledge, was transformed into a small aether dragon. This "mishap" nearly got Edda exiled from the clan, though she is quote "very pleased with the results of the experiment."
